My next build is a bit of an odd one yes it's Gundam related but it just the head of the Astray Red Frame made by motor King in 1/35 scale so it a farly big kit, it comes with some metal parts, water decals and a set of LED lights to fit. With a bit of luck I plan on keeping this a nice clean build, more to come as I work through this.

First few parts cut from the runners, these will make the inner parts for the head and we have led to add in here. I think this is going to be a build and paint as I go along.

The lighting rig that comes with the kit is basic but looks OK, well that is until you turn it on and only harlf of it works.

Well that when together surprising well, just test fitted the main parts as there are still a few small detail parts to add.

Shoulder sections and the pistons, there are some fantastic details. I did come across the normal 3rd party kit problems for the pegs, so I had to drill out all the female peg holes so everything fitted and able to take apart again.

This is getting big with the shoulders attached to the inner chest part.

Some more chest parts added and a few more pistons. The upper chest part didn't fit to flush so I trimmed off some excess from the under side and now it sits a little flatter. With that in place and the lower part of the kit to do, its looking pretty big now.

A bit of parts prep in the sun, day 1 at staying at home it going well so far...

Finished the prep on the white, blue and red parts. The white parts definitely suffer the worst of the mold lines and excess flash. Still a lot more parts to sand and prep for priming.

Always wanted to have a go at a gundam bust,

This is a very nice kit for the money, and as it was still warm and sunny after tea tonight I primed all the red, white and black parts and picked my paints out. I don't have many paint so might see it I can order few more to be delivered.

I have a bit of white and pale grey.

Red and a clear red to go on top and then Nato black with clear blue to go on top. I will then gloss on top of that and if it look good I would like to keep it gloss.

Bit more done on this as I had a paint delivery yesterday. So all the red, white and dark blue is painted, lots more sanding and prep on the other parts and I need to get the LED's fixed.

So the LED's wire is in two pats and both set of light work just not when joined together, so I'm tempted to pull the connector off and hope that's the week piont.

Can these connectors be taken apart?

Work on this one has restarted and I have painted some base colours and on with the paint detailing the frame parts, adding plenty of bling to some parts and keeping other very nutral grays. Hopefully they should clash is a good way.

Top half ready for a gloss coat and decals,it was a Battle of wills getting this back together and the wiring for the LED's has fallen apart so I'm going to have to rebuild that before I can do any more on the lower half.

The paintwork is looking nice. I like the red over gold effect.

Cheers, my first time trying a candy paint job, tamiya clear red over GW gold.

After two many hours in the man cave yester I'm ready to start on the decals.
