1/48 Tamiya Mosquito B.IV 627 Squadron Pathfinders, July 1944

Recommended Posts

Here is my 1/48 Tamiya Mosquito B.IV.

627 Squadron were based at Woodhall Spa and were used for precision daylight raids after D-Day instead of their normal Pathfinder duties.

The kit is built OOB using the recommended Tamiya paints (which I think look too dark) and Top Notch camo masks.

Invasion stripes by Tamiya Tape and the serials made up from the spares box.

The kit is amazing to build, so well engineered.

I wish I had got some weighted tyres now...

Well constructed model! Looks really nice. In addition to putting a flat spot on the tires, may I also suggest that painting them a lighter shade of black? To my eye, that makes it look just a little more realistic. If you want to get wild and crazy, a wash or some pigment can really add to it as well.

I’ve got a couple Mossies in my stash, and one is a PR variant that I just purchased some PRU Blue for. You’re tempting me to start on that one right now!

Thanks for sharing!

Good point, I may give them a dry brush with German Grey...

Excellent piece of work...   Decals go on my 1:72 Tamiya Mossie tomorrow, decals inside the canopy look challenging.

I cheated.  I masked the canopy using Eduard masks and then painted light green first.

Lovely looking Mossie. As you have noted, it would look better with weighted tyres. The colours look pretty good - I think in reality they were quite dark.

Cheers
