PeterB
The best stuff I used for building scenery on my old railway layout was a plaster of paris impregnated bandage material which I thing was called ModRoc. I used a few wooden formers with scrunched up newspaper in between, wet the bandage, put it on then used a palette knife (or my hands) to spead the now wet plaster a bit. Once dry I gave it a thin coat of polyfiller to add a bit more texture - lasted for years and was dirt cheap. Pete
bianfuxia
I used some regular paper and some regular glue to build up the scene the other day. I've actually painted the beach part now, using Vallejo Iraqi Sand, which just looks like cardboard too but I'll use some artist paints rather than modeling ones for the rest of the scenery so it doesn't just look like a tank or a plane - need a more natural palette. I'm not too fussed about this part, it's just for fun. Gonna have to do something about those very obvious cardboard lines!
