That’s one novel way to make use of a Pepsi can! Yup, I use drinking cans regulary to scratchbuild parts I normally would buy photoetch for. The material is really nice to work with, you can cut, sand, drill, scribe and emboss it easily. Adrian, seems you are progressing nicely on your conversion. I'm eager to see how your approach on the nacelles turns out. Cheers Markus
Adrian Hills
Got the basic shape in Milliput for nacelles. With spinner in place it shows I will have to remove some meat to get profile correct. I might add that my method of construction follows the excllent method chosen in Luis Mira's build 🙂

On a previous build I used plasticard but this time it was just not working. Fortunately I found a solution !! Another great idea Adrian, but I might struggle with my FROG build...…. vppelt68
you guys really model at the other end of the spectre than I do, out of the box. This is yet another incredible build! V-P
Adrian Hills
In the lovely sun a bit of al fresco modelling. Fortunately the light wind blew away the Milliput dust. I now have shapes about right (nothing is perfect with me). Next stage will be to add air intakes.
Adrian Hills
Now refined lower section of nacelle, compared it in dimension and positioning with 1/72 nacelle and fitted air intakes (bits of straw). Since the photo below I have added a centre divide. Tomorrow will coat in Milliput.
Adrian Hills
A morning of Milliputting. It was going off after the first one so had to get best shape possible. Hope to thin porky one down (nearest camera) - if possible !

Adrian Hills
Exhausts and ventral breather. I've made the sixteen other bits that go in front and behind exhausts, but as they are only one mm across will leave them for tomorrow !

Rabbit Leader
Those Vultures have really turned out lovely and look like they might even work better than the real examples! That's real craftsmanship, well done. Cheers.. Dave

Adrian Hills
Assembled and waiting for last bits of Milliput to dry before gluing end plates on and hosing down. Would like to try Airfix enamel Dark Earth as getting bored with Gunze.
Adrian Hills
Got the garden hose out and sprayed some Humbrol Dark Earth. I predominantly use Gunze but think a change is good. I painted my last Manchester (my first vac conversion nearly thirty years ago) with my special Gunze F.A.W. Dark Earth. I used to add black, grey, RLM chocolate and occasionally blue to mute it a bit. I'll leave it to you to guess what FAW stands for. This paint is very matt and quite furry. What has worked well in the past is a good polish. It just takes the edge off the mattness and will be done when dark green and flat black applied. I used to use a scrap bit of silk. However, it disappeared years ago and my lover found me rooting around in her knicker draw - so will need another source for silk !! 6

Sourcing another polishing cloth you say Adrian.. yeah right! The Lanc looks nice in DE, furry bits and all... Hehehehe 😆 Cheers.. Dave
Adrian Hills
Hmmm, found out that Humbrol 30 was certainly NOT RAF Dark Green and nearest I had was their 163 in satin - hence it is a bit shiny. Will hose lot down with Humbrol Satincote or similar. Might help to overcome decal silvering problems. However, I like the Humbrol interpretation of the RAF colours Here is a comparison of Gunze Sangyo's offering
Adrian Hills
Finally got around to pull moulding the canopy. Interestingly I filled the 'sacrificial' canopy with Milliput about ten years ago as I always intended to make an Avro 684 (subject of another build stream) and didn't need it. I followed Cliff's advice and sharpened up the shape of the windscreen. Having pull moulded a canopy for a previous build, a conversion to a Lanc damaged in a Russian peat bog after attacking the Tirpitz, I decided to make this canopy a lower profile and the same height as the crappy injection job. I hope you agree it was worth the effort. Now I really must get these builds finished as the Blizbuild is this weekend and my Matchbox Walrus awaits !
Adrian Hills
A bit of white glue and I'll fudge the gaps with masking tape. Covers all manner of sins. Besides I've already got my girlfriend's secret roll out to do seat belts for the 1/100 scale pilot ! I seem to have a spare 1/72 Lanc canopy which firstly shows the massive disparity in size between 1/96 and 1/72 (this can also be seen on CliffBs post on Canadian Lanc) - but will use the framing as a guide for my pull moulded effort.

By chance, as I had some for DIY jobs, I used Wudcare 5 minute fast grab PVA, it's really good quick drying waterproof PVA, good for jobs this, plus a wetted paint brush can be used to clean up and persuade glue into gaps. I can give a little tub to play with some time. Remember that Microscale Kristal Kleer is basically just PVA anyway. Adrian Hills
Cheers Troy. Couldn't resist this photo as I'm really quite pleased with interaction of the profile of the engines with the spinners. Remember, this is the third spinner I re-profiled as well as persuading Milliput to curve down. Not perfect but good enough to put a smile on my face

Adrian Hills
A long haul but it is now DONE. Just to show you that I used masking tape for the canopy framing. Hammond wanted to get in on the action while I celebrated with a bottle of Harvey's finest seasonal ale Proper pictures to follow in gallery tomorrow. But for now here are a few Luis Mira's 1/144 build was such an inspiration 🙂
