Forget Coronavirus! How the hell is THIS happening?!

Decalling the AIM-7s & -9s on my ZM F-4S.  Take a look at the photo.  I applied the brown bands to the -7s without a problem, they wrapped around the missile bodies a treat.  Applied the yellow bands & they simply refuse to conform.  Now look at the -9s.  The yellow & black bands are a SINGLE decal & again the brown conforms but the yellow  won't.  How can this be?  The decals are from the same sheet.  I can only surmise it's something to do with the colouring of the yellow but I've never encountered this sort of thing before!

😁

According to unconfirmed reports, as a result of an error personnel, at the manufacture  maked decals for ZM  fell Viagra in a barrel with yellow paint. An internal investigation is underway to punish the perpetrators....

when You applied the yellow strips of decals to AIM-7 and AIM-9, were there any images of the VNA MiG-17 and MiG-21 without camouflage, ala natural?

😉😁

If seriously, use strong type decal solution as DACO Decalseting or Mr.Decal seting (blue label) from Greos(HS).

But  if decalseting

it doesn’t help to better mask the missiles with tape and apply yellow with an airbrush or cutting with sharp

modeller's knife yellow strip from no need decal and  apply them to the model missile.

Personally I’d try again, however this time use a piece of your favourite 3 ply toilet paper to wick away the excess water... Oh, hang on a minute, that’s hardly gonna happen in this era of Dunny Roll panic buying is it??

My god we have some stupid people on this planet. Sorry got to go, it’s almost lunch time down here and my Bat Soup is getting cold!!

Cheers.. Dave

If you have access to Klear/Future or an equivalent, put some of it on the area you want the decal to adhere to, let it go tacky just a few minutes, trial & error on the first one will let you know how long to leave it) & wrap them around, works a treat. :)

As mentioned above Walthers Solvaset is the probably the only one that is going to do it, that is if you can get it.

Normally sold for Model Railroad decaling, it can cause inks to  run in some decals.

I can no longer get any from the US due to the weirdly expensive postage costs from there.

The better alternative is to dump those yellow decal bands and get some plain yellow stripes, there are several options out there.
