Ju-88C-6 Wk.nr.360379 markings

I'm thinking of making a 1/72 Revell model of said plane that was flown by lt. Udo Cordes with 9.(Eis.)/KG3 in spring 1943.

Problem is pinning down the exact codes that this plane carried.

5K+ET as given in AIMS set (5K in small size letters) or

5K+RT as given in KORA set (5K in standard size letters)

I have seen model made as either (someone even changing AIMS codes ET to RT) and i'm just trying to be shure to use the correct codes and 5K size.

Any Ju-88C specialist out there?

Any pic's of plane where codes are visible?

All i managed to find so far are pic's of tail markings and nose.

Cordes' machine, WNr.360379, was "5k+ET"

This is confirmed by a photograph which first appeared in print 'way back in the 20th Century,' in the German Plastik Modell magazine, issue 3/74.

I do not have a photo-hosting service, so can not include it in this post.

Staffelkapitän Hptm. Ernst Fach's WNr.360366 was also the subject of multiple photographs, before and after his fatal 15.May 1943 crash.

So ET it is.

Interestingly as said someone built the plane with RT codes and said "most sources indicates" or whatever that means.

Now for the size of 5K Geschwader markings

Would anyone know when Luftwaffe changed to small Geschwader ID markings?

From what i gather normal size markings were still present on 6.(Eis.)/KG3 destroyers at the time of Kursk in july.

If Pastor John (AIMS) says it's 5K+ET then that is exactly what it is. John is meticulous in his research

Thanks. Good enough for me.

Bugger.

when i thought all is settled i found in a Luftwaffe im focus No.3 (3/2003) page 37 (article about Erns Fach) a known photo of Udo's plane tail kill markings (2 aircraft and 81 trains) of plane in question wich says 5K+RT (but they did manage to change Cordes to Cortes).

"Oh ye, of little faith."  You can 'un-grit' your teeth.

Cordes machine, WNr.360379, was 5k+ET, no doubts.  I'd mentioned in my first reply I could not attach a confirming photo here, but if you wish to send me your email, I'll post it directly.

In any case, if you take a peek in the subsequent Lw im Focus (No.4), on p. 6 Axel has errata / addenda for that Ernst Fach article in No. 3, pp35-38, and acknowledges that Cordes' machine was "ET" (not "RT" -- but, hey, 'lapsus calami happens').

Good luck in your build, GRM

Seems that KORA Models didn't see the errata.

I'll take on that offer for a photo.

Email adress sent.

Thank You.

Now all i would need is some of that corona isolation but alas i work all the time (so unfair).
