John R
I am in the process of converting an FR5 into an F7. Did it carry guns, and if so how many, or just the Fireflash? John
ChocolateCrisps
As far as I know, the F7 did not carry any guns. To provide you with another armament-related can of worms however, it's unclear how many missiles it could carry. Most images show two, BAE's site claims four, and Solent Sky has a photo on display showing six! 1
John R
What is really interesting about that picture is that the a/c is not a Swift. It is VV119, the Supermarine 535. So is that a mock-up, a doctored picture or was the 535 used as an aerodynamic test-bed?

In all the photos that I saw F.7 does not carry guns. In addition, on the Internet for some time (perhaps now too) the Pilot Notes F.7 was free available for download. In this Pilot Notes F.7 the figure on the instrument deck there was no standard gun sight as on FR.5 or F.Mk.1-F.Mk.4. I downloaded Pilot Notes F.7, but unfortunately it is not available right now, because this my computer has broken. However, the Swift book has a instrument panel F.7 drawing with a standard gun sight. To whom it is difficult to believe, I am inclined to trust Pilot Notes. B.w. John what You use for conversion - Pavla conversion set or Alley Cat conversion set? B.R. Serge
John R
Hi Serge, Alley Cat Twit that I am (he's getting old, you know) I just realised that I had Richard Franks' technical guide to the Swift and in it are the following... The original design study was was for 4 Cannon and 4 Fireflash The list of specifications for each Mark states 2 Cannon and 2 or 4 Fireflash But the armament section shows a photo of the underside of XF124 (the one in the Alley Cat kit) with no cannon and the comment that the series was unararmed John Edited March 6, 2020 by John R more information

Perhaps on serial F.7 they planned a gun sight, but most likely on the built F.7 it was not standard gun sight. 3 hours ago, John R said: Alley Cat As for my very good install nose ( I am almost don't use putty!) and wing, but not good install nose wheel bay, however, the nose wheel bay of the Swift model from Airfix is not quite well designed and made. Also Fireflash from Pavla seemingly easier to work than Fireflash from Alley Cat. But if You don't dive in Eduard photoetched and Quickboost ejection seat install, as I am, easy building awaits You! B.R. Serge UPD. @John R I found again this "treasure island" with scan pilot notes. This screenshot cockpit picture from Pilot Notes F.7: how You see no standard gun sight in cockpit F.7. And now compare picture from Pilot notes and picture cocpit F.7 from You Richard Franks' technical guide to the Swift!
