Revell's Horten Ho 229 in 1:72

Recommended Posts

After successfully completing my first Spitfire in 1:72, I decided to start working on my second Horten 229 from Revell.

The kit will be painted in the box scheme of RLM 74/75/76 with yellow nose.

It's a nice kit... (don't read Wince) makes the PM kit look very basic...

Look forward to seeing it go together.

Lol! I’ve rescribed the panel lines and am scratchbuilding the cockpit and undercart but on day a broke canopy I missed opportunity to but this kit off of a friend!

Looking good, you going with a more exotic scheme or a one out the box?

Thanks! I'm going for the boxart scheme of Red 13.

Painting completed today. I brushed RLM 75 first and then the RLM 74.

The fun part came from the painting instructions, Revell got the colours reversed on its camouflage! The 74 areas should have been 75 anf viceversa. Too late now, and I like the look of it.

Good night folks, I was able to finish the Horten today.

In my rushed ways to finish it, I accidentally broke one of the landing gear struts, but some CA managed to repair it. I need to be more careful and slow down on my builds, even when I'm on the home stretch.

Here are the photos:

Underside decals on:

Nose landing gear. Hard to build because of all the little pieces to add:

Aaaand, aircraft finished!

Well done! I hadn’t realized there was so much involved with the landing gear assembly.

Yeah, it's a difficult build and you have to have patience when building it. Aside from that, the kit is great!
