Pauly Boy
Any, all. I have an old Williams Brothers C46 I may do and am looking for something different. Just curious. Thanks
pinky coffeeboat
http://vintageflyerdecals.com/cat.html Sadly not a C-46 but a Convair 880. If you do find a source for the C-46 be sure to post it here, I too would like one!! Jeff
Turbofan
Hi Paul, I don't know if it's any use but there is a Minicraft DC6 on eBay at the moment which comes with CAT decals. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Minicraft-Model-Kit-14459-Douglas-DC6B-Civil-Air-Transport-1-144-New/324083159254?hash=item4b74dc90d6:g:e3YAAOSwlypb07US maybe you could use the decals? Cheers, Ian Edited February 24, 2020 by Turbofan
rob Lyttle
https://images.app.goo.gl/PSeVwiqNtLErWUs4A I hope the link works..... Just an idea! * It's a great old kit, so I hope you press on and build it. So many stashed and so very few get built! I ventured into the world of laser printing decals for mine (Transportes Aereos Bolivar) with some considerable help from a fellow BMer on the graphics. Laser print is waterproof - doesn't need sealing. I got a couple of sheets printed on the high street for about £5. Laser grade paper sourced online Mine were on clear and worked fine, but they have limited covering power. ie they will have trouble with a difference in background colours. So if you have the aptitude for a bit of graphic design and a decent program to cut, paste, shrink etc it might be worth a go I certainly want to do more. Sky's the limit once you have a handle on this technique *sorry, it was just a picture of a Stinson being loaded into the cargo bay of a C46 that I was trying to link. So many ideas and possible scenarios contained in that pdf from Dallas University though 😯
Pauly Boy
Sooo... the answer is no. No one ever made them. But...everyone has been willing to help with suggestions and idea's and that is why I enjoy not just the modelling but the forums and people that go along with it!! Thank you all so much for your time and efforts! Paul P.S. maybe making my own or trying to will be my only option.
PhoenixII
@Pauly Boy you may find these two articles of interest, the first has a few colour photos of the C-46. https://www.utdallas.edu/library/specialcollections/hac/cataam/Leeker/history/Taiwan2.pdf https://www.utdallas.edu/library/specialcollections/hac/cataam/Leeker/history/Japan.pdf That'll keep you in reading material for a couple of hours! Paul P.S. @pinky coffeeboat link will take you here:- http://vintageflyerdecals.com/index.html Seeing you live in Canada and he's just a 'bit'! South of you.......... busnproplinerfan
I saw there's at least two C-46s they used. Noticed different fonts for the CAT. Parts of a decal set could be used and paint the stripe if you want. I thought they only used DC-x airliners. PhoenixII
@busnproplinerfan have a look at the first link in my post, above. Apart from single engine light aircraft, they flew the DC-3, 4, 6B, Curtiss C-46 (x25), Convair 880 and Boeing 727.

But as I have pointed out and Ian Turbofan mentioned, decals have been made for a CAT Convair 880 and Minicraft offered CAT decals with their DC-6 kit. Sooo...the answer is yes, at least two companies have made them. You said "any, all" when asked for which aircraft. So a DC-6 and CV880 isn't what you want. Could you be a bit more specific about which aircraft, which scale, which era of CAT you're after? Jeff
David M
Paul, There were several C-46 CAT liveries: NM with two black cheat lines and trim with red lettering and logos and an 'inverted' version of the same, i.e. black overall with NM trim, lettering and logos, white roof over NM with gold or yellow cheat line and dragon, plain NM with black trim and lettering and logos, NM with a white roof and sides with blue cheat and red arrowhead. None have been issued as decals as far as I know but wouldn't be hard to do in this age of graphic software and decal printers. PM me if you need images. David Sydney, Straya.
