Excellent, how did you do the base?

Firstly, the swell is made from textured watercolour paper with a cut out for the ship's hull. I made the swell by using off cuts of the paper glued under the paper to form the swell. The disturbed wake is cotton wool soaked with pva and formed while still wet. The bow wave is torn tissue paper, fixed again with pva.

I painted the sea with a dark blue and varied the shade with some darker and lighter shades. I added a bit more texture with Vallejo gel medium, Atlantic Ocean. Although the model is set in the Pacific the Atlantic shade is more pleasing to my eye. The churned water was painted with the same blue but varied with white and some pale turquoise. All the colours are vallejo.

Once everything was dry I added a few coats of gloss a varnish.

Hope you find this helpful.
