You would probably need to do some research to match a Serial to Squadron code, then you could use generic decals to get what you want..

A picture is what you need though, there are some around you just need to happen on them..

That stirs a memory in my mind. I'm sure one of the magazines, Aeroplane or Flypast covered the topic not so long ago. No doubt there were pictures. I'll have to dig into my pile of mags. Actually I'm also interested in FAA Corsairs in Europe.

Will check tomorrow.

On p.66 of Osprey's Royal Navy Aces of World War 2 there is a photo of JT590 P of 1842 Sq recovering damaged to Formidable after a Tirpitz strike on 22 August.  Not TUNGSTEN, then, but GOODWOOD: a near miss, like many of the bombs aimed at Tirpitz.  The high contrast in the upper surface colours suggests to me she is painted in Substitute colours.

Transfers for this aircraft were included in the most recent (Hornby red box) outing for the ancient and pretty lamentable Airfix Corsair kit.

Thanks,

Now I have a clue concerning where to start. I try to get some Airfix decals to match my Corsair. Conserning the "P" on the fuselage sides where the letters white, sky or yellow?

Cheers / André

Thread necromancy (Threadromancy!): Are there any markings for Wildcats used in Tungsten? Which mark was it?

The following Wildcat squadrons took part in Op Tungsten.

HMS Pursuer

881 Wildcat V coded 5A+

896 Wildcat V probably coded 8A+

HMS Searcher

882 Wildcat V probably 6A+

898 Wildcat V probably 7A+

Each of the above had 10 aircraft.

HMS Fencer

842 fighter flight 8 Wildcat V individual letters only. The squadron also had 12 Swordfish.
