Nkl-26 aerosan, 1/35 trumpeter

I shall re enter the gb with this -Its a trumpeter 1/35 kit with a bit of pe included ,I'll build it oob , and either paint on the finnish markings or use spare decals, there are some dimensional errors with the kit , although apparently the kit was designed from a set of wartime plans, but all the  historical photographs show the door to be a little further back and the front suspension leg attaching higher up on the hull, nevertheless i won't be altering it ,its a kit i tried to build in another of @trickyrich 's gbs last year but my hopes were dashed , the provenance for this build is this picture of a captured nkl-26 and taken into finnish service courtesy of wikipedia

It's always nice to see an aerosan!

I had got my eye on a  lovley looking little 72nd  areosan by ace  cliff ,but this one was taking up valuable stash room ,so I'm doing myself a favour really by building it,😋

.....and we do have something completely different!!! Welcome along again Glynn and with something I didn't expect to see!

what a crazy and scary looking device! It shoots you, then knocks you over before finally chopping you up.......sounds very Soviet!!

Good luck with the build, will be interesting to follow and look forward to seeing her in the gallery.

A contraption indeed, have a look at the footage on youtube of these things in full flight (is that right) i remenber watching it last year when i tried to squeeze it into the specialist gb (it wasn't  special enough), they do look crazy dangerous,  the Finnish captured several of these monstrosities 🤣🤣 and put them to good use 👍

A litle update on the aerosan, I've got the engine built and painted  ,which is  well over 50 parts, and I've painted the interior khaki ish,  it says this colour  in the instructions and i can find nothing to contradict this online ,fuel tank painted and the dash board which is apparently white ,I've used some left over airscale decals for the dials to tart it up a bit even though  very little is seen ,

I've tried to make it look grimey and well used of course

Impressive work Glynn. That engine in particular will draw plenty attention.

That is some seriously impressive work Glynn, the engine looks absolutely fantastic, very realistic indeed. Your work on the interior is top notch too and certainly has that worn and well used look about it.

That is one weird looking contraption! Did George Lucas design this thing or what?

Following!

Great start too, engine looks fiiine.

Thank you , as always the zoom identifies areas to be fettled, i really enjoyed doing the engine @Col. but i am working in giant scale, so it was a lot easier coming

from 72nd gladiator rigging  😁

There are some control cables  to add  inside ,the kit makes no mention of them though,  but I've found some basic line drawings on the www, maybe it will be in vain with the door being closed ,

@modelling minion craig ,  i know, you've noticed i like the well worn look😋

@JeroenS yes, maybe the "empire strikes back " it would fit in very well 👍👍

As craig had guessed it hasn't  taken long to put together, totally poinless spending any more time on the interior ,as even looking down through the gun turret is like gazing into the black hole of Calcutta ,so as interesting a white paint job as can be rustled up next,

Cheers all

The war sledge is finished ,i painted the finnish crosses on, as in  the few pictures I've seen of captured ones the crosses are a bit roughly done , I've  tried to make it less boring and white, and this is the result ,ok i agree they probably didn't  get this bad ,maybe this one was involved in a lot of action ,in dirty snow.🤗,

Cheers all, one of the best gbs I've taken part in , most enjoyabe.

You've given this unusual subject a great sense of 'life' and made what could have been a plain white scheme interesting. Good work :goodjob:

WOW!!!! :worthy:

I came across the finish build in the gallery before I found the update thread. What an awesome job!!!

The finish is perfect and I love weathering, well done!

To produce a model like this you must have really enjoyed yourself, as always a real pleasure to have you along.
