Thank you and that's a great link to have! Didn't know they made vans in 1/72. Will see how I get on with the scratchbuilding but great to know I have that as an option. Dermo245
So this is a little out of sequence but just an update on the base. I've marked it out to go with the rule of thirds for composition - from what I've seen and read, dioramas shouldn't have anything parallel to the edge of the base. Esci Sea Harrier FRS1_diorama_5 by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr But looking at pictures of the ship itself, everything is parallel to the edges of the deck. I didn't think it looked right with the containers offset...well, that's my theory.. Esci Sea Harrier FRS1_diorama_6 by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Rough mock-up.. Esci Sea Harrier FRS1_diorama_7 by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr The strip is plastic strip to break up the surface of the base. Thanks for looking and take care of yourselves. Dermo245
So got a little bit stalled on this one but back at it now... ESCI_Sea_Harrier_9 by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Cheers, Dermot
jean
Hi Dermot, your diorama is moving on exceedingly well. The containers are outstanding and the SHAR is promising to be fantastic. These were the days when they still looked bright and shiny! Their best period. Congrats JR
Dermo245
While @CT7567 had put me on to some excellent vans by PJ productions, the postage was working out a bit steep for me. So out with the plasticard then, to get something 'van-like'...the tape is just to help me with dimensions/proportions. Esci Sea Harrier FRS1_diorama_9 by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Quick test-fit and happy with that. Esci Sea Harrier FRS1_diorama_10 by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr I'm not overly concerned about accuracy as will have a Sea Harrier resting on top of it! Thanks for looking and stay safe at home, building model kits. Cheers, Dermot

Dermo245
Thanks all and some more done. Quick shot of primer on the van to check just how bad it is! Esci Sea Harrier FRS1_diorama_9_1 by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Then tidied up somewhat and a quick dust of Halfords White Plastic Primer. The chassis is from a 1/72 Krupp Protze minus the middle axle.. Esci Sea Harrier FRS1_diorama_11 by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Then the side window masked and painted.. Esci Sea Harrier FRS1_diorama_12 by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr And weathered with pastels. Have also added windows from acetate. Esci Sea Harrier FRS1_diorama_13 by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr A bit rough around the edges but happy with my effort. Esci Sea Harrier FRS1_diorama_14 by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr And a quick test-fit with the Harrier. Esci Sea Harrier FRS1_diorama_15 by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Thanks for looking, stay safe all! Dermo245
So assembled everything on the base.. Esci_Sea Harrier_Alraigo_diorama (1) by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr And put two figures on.. Esci_Sea Harrier_Alraigo_diorama (2) by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr I shared it with some of the lads on a WhatsApp group late last night and got two really good pieces of feedback - put the pilot on top of the container to help tell the story of what happened...and flatten out the van tyres a little; it's go a Sea Harrier sitting on top of it! I did that and much happier with the result, especially the pilot. And she's done!
