PeterB
This is probably totally unfair but I must confess I know very little about Iceland - I remember their trawlers embarrassing the Royal Navy in the so called "Cod War" many years ago, some of their Investment Banks failing and my local Council being out of pocket by around £1 million, though they may have got most of that back, and a volcano causing chaos to air traffic. I seem to remember seeing a "ruined bank" in a diorama buildings range........ Only joking😁. I believe it is very nice and the geysers are quite spectacular! John Masters
It’s been a good two days off-island carousing with the mainlanders. I am looking forward to being home, back to my work, my bikes and my bench. Yes...I did buy a new kit, the ICM I-4, the first Soviet monoplane. It was cheap and the box is small. It won’t take up too much space. ☺️
John Masters
The wings are on and there ae gaps to be filled. Thankfully the washouts look pretty good as do the areas around the nose--maybe some light sanding there. The wings roots are the issue. What I think is funny is that these two kits are basically the same. So why is the fit so different? Gremlins. That's my answer and I am sticking with it. So I'll break out the putty and the sanding sticks and get to it. I think I'll use Milliput for these. They are wide enough. Nothing new about this, by the way. Very much expected wit the AZ Model line. I'll get them whipped into shape. --John 3

trickyrich
gee that was a pretty serious gap....even in 1/72nd! Nice work sorting that out. I do like the look of the clipped wing one.

I really do want to wrap these three up by the end of this week. I have a build or two I would like to add to the 'In the Navy' GB and in the 'They Also Served' GB...Little planes with little propellers.
John Masters
Primed... The Danish Spit looks alright. That odd looking shadow on the rudder? A trick of the light folks. Nothing out of line there! Yikes! How'd I miss those gaps in the glass? More putty needed... Paint time tomorrow... --John
John Masters
Paint shop... Tires...Spitfires and Mig-21...propellers, and a Sky-Type S spinner from a Norwegian bird... Spitfire colours...Both the same. This is interesting... So there is this... \ And both with their first coat of paint--Sea Grey. I'll let everything dry nicely and then go in for some camo. --John Edited February 27, 2020 by John D.C. Masters
trickyrich
Gee a production paint line going on there. The Sky band should tint the top coats just right.

So the Medium Sea Grey is on the undersides. On the Norwegian machine I have added a bit of the light grey from the Mig-21 (different thread) and masked off two areas where they would have had underwing registration numbers. This is according to the decal sheet. We'll see how it is. If it needs to be lighter, then I'll just use a hairy brush. I'll go back into the wheel wells and give them all some Interior Green... --John

John Masters
Okey-dokey...Here's a question before we get to the painting... I forget...did the Spitfire undercarriage have these braces after 1945, or was it before that they did not have them? I forget. But paint...Green paint...is on... And without the masks! I am not unhappy. A bit of touch-up and that'll do it. --John

John Masters
I googled 'torque links' and, I think, from what I read, that all Spitfire models had them fitted after 1943.
