MN Oiler La Seine

This Heller kit is the best tanker/oiler model ever produced.

I bought it at ebay 15 years ago for 100€! It is sold now as package with a aircraft carrier and an escort vessel.

i bought this one too - to build the civil version.

Hello Andreas,

Excellent job on this old lady.

This is a ship and model out of the old box.

Tankers 1/350-1/400 are a forgotten range of ships.

No supply, no continuation of the operation.

The present oilers (old again) from the French Navy are also build in the old, but beautiful, style.

I hope, someday Trumpeter or Airfix will bring these kind of ships on the market.

Regards, Orion / The Netherlands.

Did you find some official pictures from this ship somewhere ??

Hello Orion,

thanks for Your message. As a child, i was starting to build ship models I saw this Heller kit in a department store.

But as i wanted to buy it, it was sold.

I am a fan of tankers and merchant ships - this is the best of all.

I will search my computer to find pictures ii have downloaded from a home page of the Marine Nationale (F)

Regards,

Andreas

That's a great job on such an old kit.

I wonder how much work would be required to convert one of those to the RFA's old (1960s/70s) Tide class as they look very similar but I can't find any details of La Seine to determine if the broad dimensions are about right.  That said, even if I could find out, I doubt if its possible anymore to get the kit for anything other than really silly money
