Spanish Armada AV-8B Harrier II Plus Novena Escuadrilla 1/48 - finished!

not sure what I originally promised to build here, but...here we go: ;)

another build in the build stash... No 4 to be precise...

This, hopefully a strait forward build, being a Hasegawa AV-8B Harrier II kit in 1/48 , together with an Aires cockpit and nozzles, and some not standard decals in the shape of Series Españolas

so what you will get here:

  • Hasegawa Harrier II Plus (the one with the radar nose and the radar from the early Hornets ...)
  • some resin and PE from Aires
  • Spanish Navy AV-8B Plus scheme:

AV-8B Harrier II Plus - 9ª Escuadrilla Aeronaves, basados en la  Base Naval de Rota in the south west of the peninsula or on the LHD “Juan Carlos I” L-61 "aircraft carrier"

load out?

  • Lightning pod
  • tanks,
  • Winders
  • else??

that is what I have for now

sprues, many of them ;)

cockpit parts:

I would say they are an improvement over the kit parts...

and the decals:

not very spectacular, but different... and the only scheme in decal form  out there....

last year or so a nicely painted tail pair was in GB for airshows, but they did not yet materialize in decal form unfortunately

This looks like lots of fun , I will be taking notes - I will be building the Eduard reboxing of Hasegawas GR7/GR9 in a future GB :) , chair , crisps and scotch ready for your updates :) - though it could have been built in this GB :P

An excellent choice Werner, can't beat a Harrier and having it in Spanish Navy markings is even better in my book.

Loved seeing them at RIAT last year, one of the best displays of the show, and it looks like they might be coming back again this year! :) Here's a couple of my pics of them from last year ( I will remove them if you want Werner ).

Really looking forward to this one Werner!

I think we are are allowed to start, no?

Aires pits can be hit and miss in respect to fit...

this one looks more than ok to me!

Always enjoy seeing a Harrier kit getting built and a Spanish one is a rare treat :speak_cool:

Does this kit suffer from the same slightly nose-high fit as the GR. versions?

It is the same kit... yes, just the very front is different. It also has the kinked wing....

I will see how to improve its stand...

A-6, A-7, or A-10 would likely have them.  Maybe even an F-16 in certain boxings.

thanks a lot, I just edited my post above ;) ... I need a Navy style TER, and the Hasegawa weapons set A seems to have what I need!
