M-55 Geophysica from Modelsvit

Recommended Posts

Just finished - the excellent 1/72nd injection moulded kit of the Russian Myasischev M-55 'Geophysica' from the Ukrainian firm of Modelsvit.....

It isn't the best model I've ever done - due to my clumsy errors - no blame on Modelsvit....

Modelsvit is to be applauded for producing such an unusual subject ... may they long continue.

The kit is superb - I just wish I could have done it better (don't look too closely!)

Here it is on the carpet - next to its predecessor - the single engined M-17 'Stratosphera' also by Modelsvit......

My thanks to Modelsvit for providing the kit :worthy:

Beautiful models of highly (!) interesting prototypes!

And thank you for the Wikipedia link. I've been a little involved in the story of an American spy ballon that crashed in Sweden in the 1950s and it's very interesting to read about the ancestor of the M-55, the Subject 34, that was designed to combat these ballons.

Superb modelling!

Kind regards,

Joachim

I've examined every photo closely, Ken, and I'm damned if I can find any "clumsy errors", looks like the model is up to your usual exemplary standard !! Beautiful !!

Mine's still in its box, I can't find the room for it  built up, the Stratosphera takes up enough space.

Funnily enough, I thought it was larger than the Stratosphera, but it's actually slightly smaller.......hmmm......not really spatial excuse then. Gotta finish the Be-12P-200 first.......

Back to the build WIP for further inspiration.........!
