Though some do not liker MH i have only had 1 order damaged and no losses since I started using them for UK orders in Feb, plus as long as we have email you can track the orders progress. After the long gap between issues we know have a short deadline for Mays as it is due to press just before Easter.

Hello, who do we contact to track for the delivery of the double issue of SAMI please? Mine still has not arrived as yet.

Many thanks,

Ray

Nor has mine, I was going to ask if any subscriber had received theirs yet. I know that post is bad at the moment, just wondering if that may be part of the non arrival.

I chased by email yesterday and the reply I received was...

"Thank you for your email.
The magazines were posted out end of last week and should arrive any day now. We are aware that there are some delays currently in the postal system for obvious reasons.
Best regards
Mark"

That is good @Tony C, thanks for that update. I did not want to appear impatient, honestly, and appreciate that there are issues with all sorts of things at the moment.

Take care all, stay well

Sorry I only just came on forum Emergency Service worker so a little bit busy. Yes all went out last weds some have touched down as I had an email on Monday from one customer but many have not including the check copies that are sent to the editorial team as we are scattered across the country. Royal Mail were chased and have said due to demand they will not investigate until 14 days after posting.

Ditto, mine arrived Saturday, wonder how this effects our subscription though?

I've paid for 12 issues, do I still receive 12 copies, given the the April/May issue only contains 114 pages?

On a slightly different vein, what has happened to SAM Publications, that caused a change of owners?

1. This is something that will be announced in due course, I have raised that point with the owners but just getting the magazines out and distributed is taking up a lot of their time thanks to a small bug.

2. The main reason is the previous owner wanted to retire and as MA had already purchased Model Aircraft Monthly it was the logical choice to take the rest of the titles.

And neither of the editors have got there copies yet, but I have not seen a postman for 4 days here.

Well I was the last to get a copy mine came yesterday! LOL

I  got mine on the 25th, luckily I already knew what was in it 😇

May issue has gone out but non UK is taking an age, some in America still waiting for there March/April copies.

And New Zeland post has a 5 week backlog to sort as they closed borders.

For those who preordered the new Starfighter Datafile I am hoping to have them in the post next weds on 48 hour tracked so watch your email inbox for tracking number and all UK book orders via website or phone will now go tracked.

My subscriber copy of SAMI has not yet arrived.

Unfortunately, this does seem to be par for the course these days - and I do blame the Royal Mail! So far on average, we've been seeing the postie less and less as time has gone on. But instead of doing what other organisations have done, and take on extra workers, they seem to be cutting deliveries instead. On our local FB page (I live on what is termed an "urban village", so it's part of, but distinctly separate from the main town in which I live, so we have a community FB page) the local postman posted, what can only be described as a politically motivated unionised comment regarding the withdrawal of weekend deliveries by Royal Mail management under the guise of lack of staff due to illness from Covid-19.

Whilst I appreciate this happening in other places, other companies have hired temporary staff to alleviate this shortfall in manpower to keep levels of service at what would be considered a normal level. RM however, don't seem to have done this based on what our postie has said, but instead have cut deliveries, and removed weekend rounds instead. Reducing service levels!

It just took a month for a letter to arrive from the UK..... and I have a number of letters and packages I'm expecting...... I sincerely hope that is not the new normal for international mail! If it is, then perhaps RM could go back to charging Surface Mail rates instead of Airmail!

Those interested in the whys and wherefores of the above comments might like to look at the entries for Sam Publications Ltd and the new owners of the magazines, MA Publications Ltd on the Companies House web site. Very interesting and many of your questions will be answered.

I have worked in Royal Mail Mail Centres and in normal times the late and night shifts are swarming with people, all working in close proximity to each other. I suspect that keeping people distanced from each other is a big issue in such work spaces. Adding more staff will not work. I have posted a few letters recently and 1st class appears to be working as usual.

Just how many flights are there each week between the UK and the US to carry all this increased mail?  It wouldn't be surprising if delays were building up somewhere.  Which is not necessarily, or only, on this side of the pond.  Come to that, just how many ships are there to carry Surface Mail?

Unless things have changed recently due to the Corona Chaos, in this country Surface Mail is a generic term for low priority post and does not go near a ship, Items for a destination will be left to accumulate until a container is full enough to depart by air. I used to get complaints from the subscriber to a specialist scientific journal who would receive half a dozen issues at the same time. He lived in a remote village up the jungle in New Guinea and the local post office only delivered when a worthwhile amount of post had accumulated.

I had a kit arrive from Cultvman arrive in just over week and a bit before that a lighting set from Paragrafix in the same time frame, international post in my experience appears to be flowing OK at the moment.

Surface mail between Europe and the US was abandoned at least 10 years ago.

Well, what can I say? It took a month for a letter; and I was notified of a package being mailed over two weeks ago which has yet to arrive. Goodness knows where my other things are. Clearly our experiences are different! 😉

Having lived in the US for over 25 years, I am painfully aware of the slimming down of international mailing options, in both directions - surface mail, small packet, media mail have all gone by the board. 😒 Now we are left with 'First Class' and 'Priority' neither of which lives up to their billing IMHO.  But that's a whole different thread.....

Can you let us know when it does and if you have not got it by next Weds drop me a mail via the MA Publications web site and I will sort out.
