Worms
Thought I would have a go at this. Last attempted in the 70s! It's quite a well moulded kit I think, given the scale and the age. Anyway, here are the bits!
Graham Boak
Much improved by a rather stockier barrel. The kit one is rather puny. Thinning the shield also helps.

I've looked at the barrel and considered modifying it, so far I have cleaned it up and made a flash arrestor, cut the back half off the breech, split it longitudinally into 3, bored the breech, but a groove in the top of the breech block and glued it back on to display an open breech... Worms
Looks better in real life...the metallic grey paint looks a lot brighter than it is!
Worms
A fair bit to be done to the limber as well such as the leaf spring stands...totally absent in the Airfix kit!

Worms
Some assembly and some modification to the limber.
Mike Starmer
IIRC the instructions tell you to paint these brown and green, please don't. If you want to get more accurate colours, the scheme in the kit should be Khaki Green G3 basic with Dark Green G4 stripes.
Worms
Hi Mike, mine is going to be busy in Normandy and thereabouts so I have used your SCC15 Tamiya paint mix with no secondary camouflage.
Worms
Wheels and tyres muddied up, except the spare.
Worms
And a bit more work on the limber and carriage.
Worms
A bit more on the limber...brass tube and card!
Worms
Fabricating a thinner gun shield, shaving off the features on the kit part and gluing them onto the new part.

Bandsaw Steve
Interesting method! Don’t think I’ve seen that done before. Result looks good. Good choice of subject by the way. There’s not enough towed artillery on these pages IMHO.
Worms
Tiger tanks and shermans seem to be de rigueur!

Yes... but in the end it’s old fashioned artillery that - more often than not - determines the outcome of the battle.
Worms
Decided to have one of the side doors open on the quad so I had to reprofile the floor and detail the door a bit.

TonyW
Lovely bit of detailing going on here. It's nice to see the kit getting a bit of TLC. The kits a real memory jerker for me, having built one or two waaaay back in the sixties. I built one bare bones, nothing added , for the Classic Airfix GB a while back. Although it looks a bit half starved next to your one, I really enjoyed the trip down memory lane.

Thanks a lot, it's always been a favourite of mine...I was just going to build it put of the box but I got carried away whilst waiting for a group build to start!"😉 The problem with adding extra details is that when I stand back and have a look I can't see them 🤣 Yours looks great, wish I could do dioramas!
Worms
The man charged with firing the gun had one big fat leg and a very stumpy arm...to be honest the figures are rather out of proportion but I have started on this one for some reason.
