So, to sort of half answer your question, to me it looks like it's just the harness, there may be some detail differences too? I thought I had a T.O. covering the US version but I can't find it but I'll keep looking, in the meantime, two drawings the first from the F.4C Captains Handbook, the second from the F.4J (UK) Illustrated Parts Catalogue. The seats in the F.4J UK were the American type. John 1
coneheadff
@canberra kid Thanks for all the info and wonderful drawings John!!! I hope it's ok if I hijack your thread Giorgio, but I would maybe John can answer another Spey Phantom question. @canberra kid John, do you have any info about the layout of the rear cockpit in a RN FG Mk.1? I was talking to a friend of mine about the F-4K and we couldn't find any pictures of the aft cockpit. Alex

There is a dedicated thread on the cockpits, and pretty sure for the seats aswel somewhere, always worth a search as much of the Phantom stuff is covered

71chally
@coneheadff, the other good way of getting info is by signing up with Avialogs ( https://www.avialogs.com/ ), for free you can sign up and view entire manuals. The Phantom FG.1 and the FGR.2 Aircrew Manuals have pictures of the seats and the various cockpit layouts of those versions, There are lots of other Phantom tech manuals there aswel. https://www.avialogs.com/aircraft-m/mcdonnell-douglas/item/4597-ap101b-0901-15a-phantomfgmk1aircrewmanual https://www.avialogs.com/aircraft-m/mcdonnell-douglas/item/4598-ap101b-0902-15a-phantomfgrmk2aircrewmanual It's an extremely useful free service, but I actually subscribe and it's well worth the modest fee.

Gene K
Just came across this thread - fantastic posts from Dennis and John, in particular, but also from so many others. Thanks to all. Gene K.
Johnson
My next Phantom will be a Fujimi FGR.2 It's about time I had a RAF camouflaged Phantom on the shelf. So I'm trying to determine if XV474, 19 Sqn, RAF Wildenrath would have had the belly strap reinforcing plate in July 1977. From the date (Feb 83) on the diagrams on page 2 of this thread I'm guessing not, but that isn't to say there were earlier diagrams. Was Feb 83 the date when these reinforcing plates was introduced? Thanks
Hook
I don't think the plates would have been present in that timeframe. Cheers, Andre
