Can't wait the 1/48th kit! Quote The second test construction after the repair of minor defects. We are satisfied, 10.11. you can look forward to the premiere of this kit SH72418 SIAI Marchetti SF-260M/AM/W. The kit itself has a span of about 11.5 cm. So the photos show things that are not visible to the naked eye. We take large photos in high resolution. Unlike others who take micro-pictures with a low-quality camera, we don't need to hide or hide something. noelh
I ordered mine on Friday. Looking forward to it. I will be building the Irish Air Corps version of course. I used to see them overhead daily until they finally retired. When I win the lottery I'll get the 1/1 version.
keithjs
Looks good. I'm struggling with the KP one at the moment and this one certainly looks better...
noelh
Well my kit arrived just now. At first glance it's very nicely detailed. The trailing edges of the wings are very sharp indeed. Other manufacturers could take lessons. If it builds as well as it looks on the sprue. It'll be very nice indeed. There are no less than three instrument panels. One for the W version which was flown from the right seat. That's attention to detail. The only puzzle for me is the rocket pods. Any pictures I've seen of Air Corps Marchettis carrying rockets are of the Matra 68mm rockets with a pointed nose. The pods in the kit may be appropriate to a future release? It may be necessary to buy a couple of more of these kits. 👌 Edited November 26, 2020 by noelh

Lets hope the 1/48 scale version to come later from Special Hobby will have two separate clear parts, enabling an ''open cockpit'' presentation of the kit. 🙂 SharkOwl

noelh
This is the Matra rocket pod used on SF260 with the Air Corps. Quite different to the ones supplied in kit.

The postman delivered an unexpected parcel this evening. It contained two Special Hobby SF260s. I was scratching my head over that one. A freebie? Then I noticed there was an invoice. I checked my account on the SH website and it seems I had somehow put two in the cart separate to my previous order which they sent on to me without my paying for them. Very trusting of them. Now do I send them back or what?

Later you still can sell the kits. 1

Terry1954
Mine arrived today. A superb little kit. I built the Planet Model resin a few years back, which is not a bad little kit, but this new injection moulded is the biz. Glad I waited for the SH version over the KP. Team Aer Lingus
My two arrived today they look better than the two KP ones I got earlier this month. I'm with NoelH rocket pods don't look anything like the Air Corps matra's which is a shame because I grew up just along the beach from Gormanston & watched them firing them during the day & at night still I've now got four to build, think I will let the resin one go. regards Eamonn

Although it's a really nice little kit, this SH one is definitely better, and the challenge I had with the resin one was trying to prevent it being a tail sitter. I drilled out the inside of the nose extensively and filled with liquid gravity, but with a solid resin rear fuselage, I also hollowed that out completely - took me a long time! Even now, she is a tail sitter! Obviously the SH and the KP's will need some weight in the nose but nothing compared to a solid resin one. Click on his link is to my Flickr album for the Planet Models one if you are interested: I'm planning the Irish Air Corps version for the SH kit. Will have to take a look at how to engineer those matra pods on the Irish version. Terry
