It is great to see Eduard has not lost their interest in WWI aircraft.  I built their previous version and thought it was quite good so I expect this will be Wonderful!  Excited to see what versIons you can build as I have a decal sheet in my stash ready to go.

The flying surfaces. Shape is fine, but the rib tape representation is way too heavy. I must say, however, that IMHO that is insifficient reason for a re-tool just yet, because the rest of the kit, and overal fit, is excellent, even allowing for it being more than 10 years old. There are many other important but unkitted types in 1/48th I'd rather see them do.

Camel is classic. And why we can have any year another Spit, Mess or Pony - why not about a decade new Camel ? Old is nice, but new was be superior. Now Ed´ re-released their Hanriot on Reggia Aeronautica anti-camo PP L.E. and it is still a nice kit. Fro new i appologized new kit of quality 1/32 Camel from WnW - in quarter scale only.

Just thought I would throw out a suggestion for a boxing of this kit, that being a representation of the 1,000th Camel built.  It is a  very colorful and cool looking scheme.  Might also be a suggestion for aftermarket decals too but would just as soon have them in the box of course :)

Thee top one is indeed a Ships Camel, a couple of the middle ones are of a 'Comic' nightfighter with the rearward placed cockpit and no Vickers guns but two Lewis guns on the top wing, the bottom one is a 'normal twin Vickers gun version, fitted with Holt flare brackets on the lower wing and a bomb rack. Looks like a train of Camels is being prepared!

I wonder if using transparent plastic for WW1 subjects (where applicable of course!) would help getting that semi- translucent look 🤔

Roden tried it with their Sopwith 1-1/2 Strutter. Not sure it was a success though

Tried also by a few others. Sounds fine on the face of it but two problems. Transparent plastic lacks plasticisers and is therefore very brittle, which is really noticeable on things like wings. And then the translucent look, on wings at least, only really applies to subjects without camouflage on the top sides. Doesn't really look any better than careful painting anyway.  Not just my opinion, either. I haven't met anyone who was happy with it.

In looking at the sprues I think you are right in that you could build almost any common version of the camel except the 2 seat trainer (for now).  The number of possible schemes for this are incredible.  The old version of the kit would allow for some of this but the new one will take it to the next level.  The old version is indeed an excellent kit so this is a high bar they have jumped over.  I like your idea of a "Camel Train" coming!
