russ c Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 HI Everyone, thought you wouldn`t mind seeing a few pic`s of my latest completion My attempt at a Far East Theatre Mk VIII Spitfire from Eduards 1/48 Weekend Edition kit Finished to represent an aircraft of 615 Squadron, flown by Flying Officer Hank Costain and based at Palel, India around 1944 Built as usual almost completely from the box contents.... ...didn`t even have to make seat belts as I managed ( i think ) to get a good result from the kit decal ones Decals were from Xtradecal set X48-129 I was attracted to this scheme because of it`s unusually coloured code letters.... and simple nose art. Hope you enjoy the photo`s, thanks for looking Cheers Russ 73
Farmerboy Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 Your beginning to get quite good at this modelling job! Another stunner! 1 1
tonyot Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 (edited) Another beauty Russ and wearing the finish of one of my favourite Spitfires with its Aussie `Snifter' nose art. Strange how those blue codes appear a different colour from different angles too. I intend to build the 1/32nd Tamiya kit in these colours,....... I`ve done 1/72nd and 1/48th too!! Cheers Tony Edited January 30, 2020 by tonyot 1
Peter W Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 That's a really great looking model and like the scheme too, may have to add those decals to my pile. Pete 1
Gary Brantley Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 Astounding Russ! 😀 Very realistic indeed, love those painted-over upper wing roundels. Stunning model sir! 1
Baldy Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 Nicely done Spit Russ - suitably worn and hard worked. Nice subtle work on the over-painted roundels and nicely presented/photographed. Cheers Malcolm 1

72modeler Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 What the others have said about the overpainted roundels goes double for me! That is a beautifully done Mk VIII! Mike 1
Spitfire31 Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 That's a great Spitfire! The weathering looks spot-on, strictly cause>effect. Really impressive work. But why aren't the elevators drooping? 😉 Kind regards, Joachim 1
Vinnie Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 Lovely touch with the overpainted roundels. It does look good in the SEAC scheme. 1

Faraway Posted February 1, 2020 Posted February 1, 2020 Very nice. Good to see a spitfire in an unusual livery. Gives me thought for when I start mine. 1
