Micro Decal Liquid Film whitening

I wonder if anyone has this problem? I applied two layers of Decal Liquid film on a set of old decals that I saw were cracking. The next morning the decals have turned white.

 

I initially thought the white stains will disappear when I apply the decals but they remained even after I

- repeatedly washed them with water using a cotton bud

- repeatedly washed them with Microsol which lessened the whiteness but does not remove it totally

- applied a coat of Klear over them which has no effect

 

 

Anyone knows how to rescue this?

I've never worked with this stuff, does it have a flattening agent in it perhaps? Maybe you gave it a really thick coat causing that to build up. I've had similar experiences when I was "scraping the bottom" of the flat clear bottles when they were close to getting empty.

Never had that problem. Any surplus just lifts off on application. I reckon that was too heavy/thick a coat.

On a spur I decided to use acrylic thinner to wash away the layer. It worked. As my base was lacquer, it did not affect the paint. See below:
