KhAI-3, Mikro Mir 1/72

I was inspired to start this thread by the build of Unkempt.

I started working on this crazy aircraft few days ago and it was very interesting build so far. Sanding the trailing edge with file was quite thrilling and the CA Glue was used very often for filling gaps. My plan is to do the dirty work first and than focus to the interior. Exeption is just the engine and wheels, which are ready to paint by now. I wasn´t satisfied with the wing lift of the kit, it seemed to me be quite uplifted, so I sanded the wings attachment area to more flat wing lift. Maybe it´s overdone it a little bit, but I like it more that way (and the trailing edge is continuous too). The "dorsal fin" is only laid unglued.
I hope you´ll like it.
Cheers,

Andrew S.

New progress!
I worked hard on the bottom part of the centroplan to be clean and ready to panel rescribing. I applied thick layer of Surfacer 500 primer and than focused on the interior.
Seats are ready to paint, I just added the bars for holding during flight. New additions to the interior are the oil tanks in the rear of the fuselages (I made that up as same as everything in the interior...), pilot seat has a headrest, there is a new throttle control and a map case, some ribs inside the fuselages and the storage box at the front of the left fuselage.
Let´s move on now!

(parts are attached by tack-it gum only!)

Very nice additions and neat surface work on that belly.

Darn, you have raised the bar too high now.

Cheers

I think there is no bar too high for you Moa, I am doing my best and I am always inspired by your builds (your magic on that HP 0/400 says it all).

Today I am going to work on the panel lines and some rivets and bolts and maybe attaching the rudder to the rest of the plane. Hopefully there will be time for painting the interior too.

Interior is finally painted and ready for completion which will come afret painting the whole aircraft. There are photos of the interior painted like plywood with added oil tanks. The engine is ready too, together with other parts. Undercarriage still needs some attention but I hope painting will come tomorrow finally. Wish me luck with clean surface. :D

The windows are treated with the Future varnish which makes them crystal clear.

Painting today!
First white rudder, noses and base for blue. Than masking and blue XF-8. Now the paint is setting. I also painted the airscrew in the meantime. It´s a great fun!

Painting done, Super Clear varnish layered, now I have to work on surface. Some dust have fallen to the airframe during airbrushing (UGHHH!) and need to be exterminated! I hope 2000 sanding paper and polishing paste will help, wish me luck.

I was lazy to post more photos of progress, so I am posting the completed model now. More photos in Ready for inspection.
The rest of the build was pleasure, only the clear parts don´t fit 100%. I made new Venturi tubes, door handles and some bar under the starboard fuselage.

Thanks for watching the whole build, it was encouraging.

Regards,

Andrew
