Bullbasket
Surprisingly, it didn’t take very long to get this ready for RFI. I didn’t finish everything (never did get around to adding the small piece of houseboat frame), but I’m reasonably happy with it. I made a small base from polyurethane foam and balsa wood and covered it with a surface to resemble something like a hot, dry Italian scene. I added some stones and some tufts of grass before gluing the tank in place. The figure is one of Tim Perry’s 1/48th items, painted with Vallejo acrylics. The WIP for the build can be found here; Thanks to all those who followed the WIP and thanks again for all of the encouraging comments. Jasper dog
Hi John, very nicely done, as ever. All the little extras really make it, the stowage, figure and base super job. Cheers
PlaStix
Hi John. Well I am pleased this one turned out so beautifully after you bailed on my T-55 STGB!! It turned out a real stunner! I've never really been that keen on this scheme on Shermans but, having seen the way you have done this one, I'm going to dig out a Dragon Sherman - that wears this scheme - that I know I have in the stash - sooner rather than later! The finish and stowage on yours looks brilliant! Very well done. Kind regards, Stix

Hopefully the T-34 build will be better for me as it will be over by the time Telford comes around again. I've got a couple to chose from, a Dragon T-34-85 and a Ryefield Models T-34-122. I have to say that I agree with you with regards to the cammo scheme on this one. That's one of the reasons that the one that I was doing in 1/35th scale got put aside for so many years. I made a dog's breakfast of the cammo, so it ended up as a shelf queen. Thankfully, I think that I've rescued it and I'm now in the process of doing the detail painting, a couple of figures and finally a base. Then it will be time to work out what I will have a go at next. John.
