Marlin
Hi. These two Pilot Replicas J21 and J29 will be my contribution in this GB. 156 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 097 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I plan to build them side by side and they will be straight OOB. The J21 will be "Röd Martin" (Red Mike) from wing F12 in Kalmar. One of the few ones that had roundels on top of the wings. And the J29 will be "Gul Johan" (Yellow John) from wing F15 in Söderhamn Just because I'm a sucker for dayglo markings. And since I'm going to participate in some other GB's I'll give myself 4-6 week to have these two at the paint stage. That way I got time to start building my entry for "In the Navy" when that starts. To be continued..... /Bosse
trickyrich
welcome along Bosse with a couple of wonderful models! I have been looking at these myself, they do look rather nice, can't wait too see them built. Plus this lots have been teasing use with the SAAB SH60's for a while. Gosh I hope they release them soon, I'll definitely have one of them! Well good luck with the build, am dying to see these being built.
Marlin
Thanks Rich. I'm more than eager to start them both. So you won't have to wait that long before I can show some progress shots. As for the SK60's I'll be standing in queue with you for 1, or 4 of them. /Bosse

Marlin
You're most welcome. I don't think I've built a J21 and J29 since I was a kid, many moons ago. And I guess it was Hellers ones in 1/72 then. /Bosse
Col.
A cracking pair of subjects I'll be watching your progress on the J 21 in particular as I'd love to get a copy of that kit for myself but the J 29 is an equally worthy subject.
Marlin
Thanks and Welcome Col. By tomorrow evening I think I'll have the first progress picture to show. /Bosse
Marlin
Hi. Col.
Carefull you don't get parts mixed up or you'll build to world's first twin tailed, propellor-powered, J 29
Rabbit Leader
These two kits do look to be quite special and I too will take a back seat to watch them both come to life. The upper wing roundel explanation on the J21 is quite interesting, so I wonder how many didn’t have upperwing roundels in service, seems like not as many in this case? Cheers and best of luck getting these built.. Dave
trickyrich
I agree they do look to be really nice models, the detail looks fantastic. I'm very interested to see how they build up as I could see myself building a J-29.
Marlin
Hi, and thank you Gentlemen. You don't have to worry about mixing up the sprues. I've marked them with some small tape flags stating which sprue goes to which aircraft. This is what I spent my Sunday with. A lot of sub sections on the J29 have been glued together. 115 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr Intake and fan front. 116 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr Four fuselage quarters. 117 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr Lower nose section and Intake 118 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr Rear fuselage glued together. 119 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And the cockpit is almost done. I've got to finish the seat and IP and then I can glue it to the fuselage. The flash on my mobile darkened the colours, they are much brighter in real life. 120 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I've used Akan and Hataka acrylis on all part that have been painted. trickyrich
gee the detail on the fuselage sections is first rate. It'll be interesting to see what the main joins will be like.
Marlin
Thanks Rich I did some dry fitting earlier and I don't think there will be any difficulties joining the fuselage halves. We'll see in a day or two if I was right. /Bosse
trickyrich
Gosh if they go together as nicely as they look like they will then I will have to get a J-29.....and then start hassling them for the 105 they have been promising forever!! That will have to go to the top of my wise list.....along with a proper model (done by someone that actually looked at one!!! HB!!) of the F-111 in 1/48th!! 1
Marlin
Bummer. I was about to finish the ejection seat on the J29 last night. But I feed the Carpet Monster with one of the PE belts. So I had to put an emergency order to my local dealer. And thankfully a resin seat was avaliable for immediate order. So perhaps I'll have it, and some other goodies, in the mail by friday. /Bosse

Marlin
Thanks Hewy. It sure does, should have ordered the seat from the start. But I will not loose any time before it lands in my mailbox. I'll just have to work on the J21 instead for a couple of days. /Bosse
trickyrich
ooo that's a shame though the new resin seat does look rather nice! Interesting the see that the Swedish carpet monsters like the same things as the downunder ones! Maybe Sir David Attenborough could do a series on them......he's done one on everything else!!
Marlin
Thanks Rich. A Sir David Attenborough series on the life of the Carpet Monster would sure be interesting to see. /Bosse

But I do have a plastic convering to protect the floor from my swivelling chair. And when I come to think about it, that, the chair and the worktable are from IKEA. /Bosse
Marlin
Hi. The resin seat has arrived. 158 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And what a difference from the kits seat. 122 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I've primed the seat this evening, and will paint it tomorrow. And since I've been doing some work on the J21 while I as waiting for this to arrive the amount of lost time isn't that mesurementable.
