75 years ago,Wellington bomber crash in Burbage.

14th January 1945,Wellington bomber,MF116 of the 26OTU, flying out of RAF Wing nr Aylesbury,crashed in fields in Burbage,Hinckley,Leicestershire with the loss of all 6 crew members.

Pilot-Flying Officer Nicholas Chobaniuk aged 25 of the RCAF.

Navigator-Sgt Leslie Good aged 20 of the RAF.

Air Bomber-Sgt John Gunn aged 22 of the RAF.

Wireless Op/Air Gunner-Sgt John McMurdo aged 33 of the RCAF.

Air Gunner-Sgt Charles Parker aged 19 of the RAFVR.

Air Gunner-Sgt John Thompson aged 23 of the RAF.

 

Small service at the site of the crash today in Burbage.

 

RIP fellas.

I was in Hinckley on Monday and came out through Burbage!
