Rui Silva
Hi all, Doctor, doctor, gimme the news, I have a bad case of... Draken fever! Another Flygflottilj F 10 Draken (the alternative kit markings), this time a "David" in natural metal (for contrast with the camouflaged "Johan"): the usual box art, sprue and AM goodies photos.
One 48
Never knew this kit existed, am so out of touch in my comeback to 1/48. Is this a newer tooled Hasegawa kit, re-boxed from someone else or? Gonna follow this for sure ... you have some fantastic looking extra's there my friend

Hi One 48, According to Scalemates the original Hasegawa kit is from 2008 (J 35F/J), this "Natural Metal" J 35D is a limited edition from 2016, I bought it from an Ebay UK auction about one month ago, you can still find plenty of Draken kits and aftermarket goodies there.
Christer A
Natural metal F10 Draken? Let's holler @Rudolf_Filip to see of there are any period pictures of your chosen aircraft. After all, he'd working a lot in his spare time at the F10 Museum Does this kit have the older canopy? It almost appears so but I cannot make it out. Can't wait so see what you'll so with this!

Hmm, natural metal is a complicated thing to model properly, any reference pictures would be very welcome, I have never been near to a Draken in my life or thinking about it, I have never been near to a Flygvapnet aircraft in my whole life!
trickyrich
welcome along with another lovely Draken but this time a silver one!! It looks like you have the standard set of AM stuff to go with her, should be lots of fun to watch this one progress. The NMF is not the easiest to do but it will certainly look awesome once completed. Good luck with the build, look forward to seeing her in the gallery.
Rabbit Leader
That looks like another cracking kit and a ‘D’ in NMF and early canopy will be most welcome among this growing collection of excellent GB kits. I’m gonna watch this one with keen interest! Cheers and good luck.. Dave

Good! I contacted @Rudolf_Filip directly instead of nagging on him here and got the following pictures: (I also added them to the reference thread) Here we can clearly see the old style canopy, the orange ring behind the radome, the black and yellow pitot tube (don't forget to add the one on the fin!) and primarily the NMF. It's a very flat and dull finish that was not in any way polished, we're not Americans 😉 Edited January 15, 2020 by Christer A 6
Colin W
I've been trying to get hold of one of these since they came out. My plan is to build one of the Danish Drakens that used to come over to RAF Church Fenton air show in the '80's. Every year they got more worn and dirtier. Fantastic looking thing though. I never saw one fly but they looked noisy. Good luck with the build. Colin

In the 90's Finnish Air Force Drakens & MiG-21's were flying in the yearly airshow - and their raw and guttural sound topped most if not all the other visitor planes that took part of the airshows. Rui Silva
Problems and solutions: Bugger, the Aires ejection seat does not fit in the kit's bathtub, this was not acceptable as I really want to use the resin seat. I "dremelled" the resin bathtub, the kit's forward fuselage walls and bathtub base all paper thin until it finally fitted. Eureka! 😃
Christer A
Aha! The old "when everything fails, use a powertool"-solution. Great!

Col.
Three Draken!?! Good work getting the resin 'pit to fit by the way. Sounds as if you had to get a bit 'medieval' on it but well done

Yes, 3 Drakens: my wife gave me the Eduard Special Edition kit as a birthday present, then I looked up for Draken cool markings and found the F 10 "Swordfish" and I had to buy the Hasegawa Special Edition just for the decals; two months ago I found the Draken "Natural Metal" kit on auction in eBay UK and it was too good to miss... not cheap but I won the auction and so I ended up with 3 kits. By chance, if I ever complete them, they will be all F 10 aircraft, plan A is: J 35D Natural Metal, 2 X centerline drop tanks, 2 x Rb 24 (AIM-9B) J 35J Swordfish, Green/Blue camo, 2 X centerline drop tanks J 35J Grey camo, 4 x Rb 78 (AIM-4D) Back to resin dust, here's Darth Dremel, Sith lord of the powertool 😎 7
zebra
Can't get enough Drakens! I thought about building mine but haven't got together all the aftermarket I want to use, so it's staying on the shelf for now. I'll be following.
