1964rac
HNY to everyone. Last year was a very busy year for me, so have not been able to get on here as much as I would have liked. I guess my new years resolution will be to visit BritMod more. Thought I'd show off my conversion of the new LWB Revell III series Land Rover into a SWB version. If useful, I will post some of the pics I took of the deconstruction stage. Cheers Richard

keefr22
That's excellent, brilliant model and diorama! If you replaced the Landie with a 1979 Mini 1275GT you almost have the same scene as our real garage! Great stuff! keith

But, in time, I will build a base specifically for the Landie, thinking of a farmyard / barn scene.
brianthemodeller
That looks superb. I was planning a similar conversion once my OOB Land Rover is finished. I don’t suppose you have any WIP pictures you would like to share?

Started with the LWB shell, then cut off the back section: Then cut out the rear door: Further cutting was done on the rear section: Repeated for the other side, test fit of the cut out sections: A bit of filling to do with plastic card, then filled and sanded: Then it was on to resizing the interior and chassis: Once completed, test fit of all parts then a quick coat of primer: That's it, on SWB Landie. 7

More or less what Landrover did in real life, only in reverse.
xffw45343tg
Can't quite work out where you took out the extra length from the ladder frame. Did it need any reinforcement?

Cooper645
Excellent stuff, exactly what other people are likely Hoping to find as the SWB seems to be the more preferable version to build. you’ve achieved an excellent finish. Congratulations and also nice work on the diorama.

Cheers Copper645, I thought that when I saw the LWB was to be released, it would be nice to have a SWB version, so after some thunking time, it looked possible. So after taking a very deep breaths I started cutting, and it turned out to be easier than I thought. Might make a few more SWB versions, try and perfect the conversion method.

cmatthewbacon
One small refinement might be behind the rear wheels... the bottom corner of the arch is at about the same level on both sides, with a much steeper slope on the lower edge of the bodywork from wheel arch to rear panel on the 88" than there is on the 109".... best, M. Natter
Mmmm.... some interesting thoughts on conversion to an 88" there. I'll keep an eye open for how you do the truck cab and tailgate for a pick-up.
PatW
Brilliant! Our eldest son had the SWB lightweight Paratrooper Lannie, I was hoping that the manufacturers would come out with one but ER No! Now I know what to do!
