I like those markings too.  Tasty!   I also agree it would be nice to see earlier variations

I imagine there was little thought by Wolfpack on this as it is a release of the older Academy moulds. I admit I wasn’t aware of the differences in the T-6G and now I realise that for anyone wanting an earlier Harvard there is no choice but to convert.

Whilst it's understandable that Wolfpack should re-release the Acadamy Texan, it is after all the best Texan in 1/72nd scale, but Wolfpack themselves are not averse to moulding things for themselves and have missed the chance to give us an earlier or long-canopied version of the Texan/Harvard.

I for one would welcome a long-canopied Texan/Harvard in this scale.

As I understand T-6G version is correct for American-built airframes in post-war use by various operators for both combat and training purposes. Still one needs to double check if a specific user had a post-war built machine or a variant from the wwii period.

Aircraft built and sold effectively "as new" post-WW2 generally ARE WW2 variants, but factory-remanufactured. 2,304 examples of earlier T-6 variants were bought back and remanufactured to the updated (and very greatly improved) T-6G  / SNJ-7 / Harvard 4 configuration by North American and contractors, and CC&F, between 1949 and 1952. A small number of brand new Harvard 4 were also built, but they are very much a footnote.

These aircraft were sold back to the USAF, with new serial numbers, and to many other government users around the world.

This is why the overwhelming majority of T-6 survivors are T-6G or equivalent spec.

Looks like the Academy tooling is doing the rounds with Special Hobby using the same tooling for their next release but with more bits... to make earlier variants....😏

Here are the instructions for the Academy original - since this has some Korean War options as well, colours are the same.
