Dave_R
Hi All, The Draken is in my opinion the best looking fighter from my favourite era of jet aviation. I'm going to do an Austrian one - just to be different. ... and here's some sprues. ... and some PE and resin. Dave.

All their training was done at F10 airbase in southern Sweden (that was wear the trainer Drakens roosted after all) so the Nordic connection is still going strong.
trickyrich
welcome along Dave and with what will be a very popular choice. I have the same boxing as this one and nice to see you're going with an Austrian one. good luck with the build, hopefully a trouble free one and look forward to seeing her in the gallery.
Rabbit Leader
That looks to be a cracking boxful of Hasegawa and Eduard bits, how can you not love what’s on offer there. I too agree that it’ll be nice to see an Austrian example being built here. Cheers and good luck.. Dave

Dave_R
Hi All, This one has been pushed to the side for a while, but I'm ready to get back to it now. It didn't go together as easily as I expected and took a fair bit of filling and sanding. I've cut-out the control surfaces for the Aires replacement set, unfortunately it looks like it's going to take a of work to get them fit. Dave_R
...so, I was looking at some of the Draken threads on here and something started to nag at the back of mind that there was something wrong my Draken. Yep - it's those air scoops behind the cockpit, they're wrong for an Austrian Draken. I went back and checked the Eduard instructions and I had followed those correctly, but the instructions are wrong. So I spent an hour or so hunting through my spares boxes looking for the parts I'd cast away and I did find them in the end. I've now got to remove the wrong parts and replace them. Bad, bad Eduard 😠!
Col.
Glad to see you returning to this one Dave. Shame Eduard made the job a little harder for you though.
Jens
That heavy amount of filler you have used on the aft fuselage shouldn't really be there. The real aircraft has a step and shape transition there. The Hasegawa kit is correct in this respect. Jens
Dave_R
Hi Jens, Do you have a photo that shows a step? because I can't see it in the photos below. Dave.
matto21
Nice project and kit! I fancy one of these myself however the stash needs to be reduced, not increased! 😂

Julien
Its hard to see on the first Aircraft in the walkaround, but better on a couple of the others. We really could do with some more pictures of the iconic aircraft in the walakaround section. Julien
Dave_R
Hi All, I've removed the wrong air scoops... ...and added the correct ones. And added some brass to the undercarriage. Dave.

Shorty84
Hi Dave, a pity that the Hasegawa kit seems to fight you. Still, nice to see one of 'our' birds built. Cheers Markus

Dave_R
Hi All, I've put on the Aires control surfaces. ...and added a bit of brass. It was pretty tricky to get a good fit for the Aires bits. I added some plasticard to get a better fit and removed some of trailing edge to get the PE to fit. I'm not too happy with the result but it could easily have been a right dog's breakfast, so I can live with the way it looks now. A bit of a clean-up and it should be ready for primer.
