trickyrich
I was just looking to see what i did of the cockpit on mine. I had the maestro PE set and Ejection seat but I found too that it didn't fit. I think it was made for the Airfix/Esci model. I ended up using a CMK one (along with new thrust reversers & air-brakes). The CMK one actually fitted I and think looks much better that the Meastro one.

I actually ordered the cmk one but they didnt have it in stock unfortunately. So I think to prevent the budget going into the stratosphere I will try to use the kit seat and the already bought cockpit PE set (with belts etc) to beautify. Dansk
A start has been undertaken in the usual place, i’m not toooo bothered on accuracy on this build, (bluer seat belts etc) but I’m gonna have fun. 😊 I still have a few small bits of PE to add here - best to add those fragile bits once the seat and IP are safely glued into position me thinks. (The seat is a dry fit here) I’m a bit scared about this kit after seeing @exdrakens dry fit

modelling minion
Nice start Paul. Your kit seat with the added etched belts looks much better than the resin seat you bought, I have to say that it is the worst looking aftermarket seat I've ever seen! The cockpit is looking very nice and will look great when fitted into the fuselage.

PeterB
Hi Paul, May not mean anything, but I bought some of their decs for my Lansen from Hannants a couple of weeks ago - no problems. However I have just looked there for Viggen decs and both their sets are out of stock, as are quite a few of their other sets whilst stock of the rest is low. May just be a temporary problem hopefully. Pete Edited February 3, 2020 by PeterB
Dansk
The moose republic decals arrived today Pete and they are really brilliant 👌 The dayglo orange the camera can’t capture well, looks red in the photos.
Christer A
That should be enough decals for a few Viggen

Dansk
The cockpit is nearing completion On my viggen, just need to add the hud glass, and soften the new black paint aft of the hud - The angle of the projection unit on the hud is a little off but i’ll live with that, The white glue is not dry on it here but will dry clear and glossy. Jumping ahead a bit (but figured it was easiest to do it before the fuselage is assembled) i popped the airbrakes in position. The gaps around those airbrakes were huge so i’ve been drowning them in tamiya extra thin. Maybe some ppp will help too. Actually looking at itnow in macro i can see the hud is intalled in reverse - i need to fix that 🙄 Edited February 8, 2020 by Dansk

Rabbit Leader
One of the nicest cockpits I’ve seen of late... your Mig-21 from last year was another beauty that comes to mind. Great work. Cheers.. Dave

Dansk
Thanks so much for all your good vibes chaps. My mojo needed that right now, so it’s really appreciated. 🙏👍🙂 I added the 3 interior mirrors to the glazing frame on the viggen, then couldn’t decide whether to have the canopy open or closed. The glazing is pretty clear you can see a lot of detail (camera doesnt suggest this successfully though)... ...and the viggen has such pretty lines when it’s closed up, so that was that. So now we’re here. The fit was near perfect on the glazing - i wasn’t expecting that. These clamps are a godsend. I love them. (I needed the canopy squeezed a touch while it was pushed down to cure) Thanks for reading! 🙏 i’m off to get some sun for a couple of weeks so this is my last update for a little while. modelling minion
You really have got a good fit on the canopy Paul, those clamps have worked very well indeed. I agree with you about keeping the lines of the Viggen by having the lid shut and I would probably do the same myself. I hope you have a good, and warm couple of weeks, off somewhere nice?
