Gorby

Feeble excuse to post some pics of previous builds – Now in glorious MONOCOLOUR!

Recommended Posts

As I had my hanger dio out for a recent photo shoot, I had a play with it go at using it for it's original purpose – as a photo prop rather than a dio. In a pitiful attempt to try and replicate old photos I've done them in glorious monocolour (don't even think of telling me they're in the wrong shade of grey!). Through the medium of Gimp (Photoshop for those people to tight to buy Photoshop) I've bullied several thousand pixels into pretending to be a background, as it gives the game away slightly if there is an enormous Revell Contacta on the horizon. It's the first time I've tried this so if you laugh enough to cause yourself an injury, I really don't need to know about it. The pedantic observant amongst you may note that the background isn't entirely consistent with the background in some of the other photos. This is because this is a top secret revolving aerodrome which the nazis would almost certainly been developing (but probably only if they were drinking the same stuff as I am).

Some of the models have been seen here before, but I'm counting on you having a memory as bad as mine.

What the hell was I talking about? :blink2:

1/48 Italeri Hs 123. In an exclusive poll consisting of all the modellers in my house called Gorby, this was voted 'kit most deserving of a punch in the face'.

695079-20442-21.jpg

1/48 Italeri Ju 87G.

Featuring - 'Messerschmitt maintenance made easy', "aarrrrrr, that's where the sticky-out things go".

When they were told they were being sent a pointer, they hoped for something a lot cuter.

695080-20442-99.jpg

Getting ready to go off and annoy the neighbours.

695081-20442-96.jpg

Eduard Bf 109. Modelling is so much easier getting these bods to build and paint them for me.

695082-20442-15.jpg

Eduard Fw 190. (Subtitled: How I butchered the butcher bird)

695083-20442-94.jpg

Hobbywhatsit Bv 141. What was that designer smoking?

695084-20442-51.jpg

Perhaps if we look at it longer, it might make sense.

695085-20442-93.jpg

Tamiya He 219. That bloke with his hand in his pockets is a lazy git. I've not seen him doing any work.

695086-20442-11.jpg

I had to glue three of those toasting forks back on before it was ready for it's time in the limelight, and I'll look forward to many years of gluing the bloody things back on.

695087-20442-41.jpg

Oh the embarrassment! A stylish airfield shouldn't be seen wearing spot and stripes at the same time.

695088-20442-90.jpg

Tamiya Do 335. This is the first model that I decided was good enough to post back in deepest darkest 2016. What a lucky world.

Then someone complained that it was the wrong colour. :wall:

695089-20442-14.jpg

695090-20442-54.jpg

Tamiya Me 262 & Kettenkrad. My first 'returnee' build which is why it's hiding in the shed. The shame. :weep:

I think we need to push it back in - those damn Britishers will laugh at it.

What fool put that stripey thing on the drinks trolley?

695091-20442-36.jpg

Dragon Me 163. The pilots wondering why he's glued to a ladder.

695092-20442-59.jpg

(On the left) Tamiya Fi 103 V1 converted to piloted version in a what-the-hell what-if scheme

695093-20442-14.jpg

AM Tech Ta 183 (you're not supposed to know there's an easier way for the pilot to get in on the other side.)

695094-20442-75.jpg

Dragon Ba 349 Natter - relaxing with it's trousers off.

695095-20442-69.jpg

695096-20442-47.jpg

Trumpy Me 509. We need to give the ground crew a round of applause for their dedication spending the entire war pretending to work. It reminds me of my own career.

695097-20442-49.jpg

Luft-46 overdose.

695098-20442-15.jpg

Thanks for havin a gander.

Pretty damned cool Gorby!  😎  Fantastic modeling and dios my friend; the lack of colo(u?)r gives the pics a true air of authenticity.  Bravo sir, well done! 🍻

Oh, Gorby. Just when I think I'm getting better at modelling I see your results and then feel the need to skulk off to a dark corner. :wall:Lovely collection mate, well done.

While I think the subjects and the photography are great, I thoroughly enjoyed the comments you made for many of the builds!

This made me laugh out loud and reminded no of my own career;

"We need to give the ground crew a round of applause for their dedication spending the entire war pretending to work. It reminds me of my own career.

Your comments brought a sparkle to the builds to go with the atmospheric photographs.

The busiest hangar in the Third Reich!

Absolutely brilliant. I love the bloke looking at his 109 kit instructions. And the privy!

That shade of grey looks to be a bit pale for RLM71 :coat:

That's a very colourful (heh) selection of models there! One thing; what's the story with the mirrored swastika on the me 163?

No story. With my attitude to accuracy, your lucky it isn't:
