Aigore
Here is a bunch of pics I took of the only flying AJ37 on an excursion to F7 Air wing station. Note : the white blade antenna is a new addition and placed where the radar altimeter used to be and is only present on this particular aircraft. 6
Christer A
Here is a good page in english detailing all military aviation in Sweden: http://www.avrosys.nu/aircraft/index.htm It has quite a few pictures of everything, and some info of what is preserved today, 3
Rui Silva
Hi all, While looking for references about the use of the Hughes AIM-4 Falcon in Sweden (RB 27 and RB 28) I came about the website of the Missile Museum in Arboga, this has some interesting information about all the missiles used by the Swedish Armed Forces and... a J 35B Draken flight simulator! https://www.robotmuseum.se/ROBOT/ARM_robotmateriel.htm How can I get SWMBO to fly from Porto to Stockholm and then drive for 2 hours and back just for 30 minutes in a flight simulator?! 🤓
Christer A
Well, you could take a flight to Copenhagen (make sure to stop at Stoppel as well, great danish model store!), leave the SWMBO there and just travel for 1 hours 45 minutes and go to the F10 Museum https://www.engelholmsflygmuseum.se/flygsimulatorer/ In english here https://www.engelholmsflygmuseum.se/english/ They have a J 35J simulator 😎 Also a lot of other interesting stuff. It's a great place, or what do you say @Rudolf_Filip? You save at least 3 hours in total! Rui Silva
49 minutes ago, Christer A said: Well, you could take a flight to Copenhagen, leave the SWMBO there and just travel for 1 hours 45 minutes and go to the F10 Museum Thanks Christer, That's a wonderful idea, I had no notion Ängelholm was so near Copenhagen, certainly I will try early Spring this year or next year when I retire to visit Denmark and go the museum in Sweden and try the J 35J simulator. Entirely by coincidence I want to model TWO Flygflottilj F 10 Drakens, life is full of surprises! 😀 Edited January 14, 2020 by Rui Silva Spelling
Christer A
The Simulator instructors are former Draken pilots as well, so you'll get proper teachings from them. One of my J21R will also be a F10 machine, purely by coincidence
Christer A
Examples of unpainted Draken. Thanks to @Rudolf_Filip who provided these fotos Note: this is the finish on all unpainted Swedish aircraft. A dull, flat finish with a slight yellow tint. I guess it's related to the exact aluminium alloy that were used. 2
Marlin
Hi. As I've already stated, my youngest son and I took the car and drove south for 130 km today. We visited the F11 Museum in Skavsta/Linköping. The F11 Wing was the main recce wing of the Swedish Airforce, and they've flown every recon aircraft we've had. The museum is rather small, but they display an S29, S32, S35 and the front section of an SF37. 20200126_121908 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 20200126_122614 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 20200126_122915 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 20200126_124344 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr Axel got to play Draken driver for a moment. 20200126_123551 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And since he's young and more agile than his father he got to take picture of all landing gears and wheelbays. Here's a link to the almost 200 pictures I took. https://www.flickr.com/gp/156426495@N05/45aWH5 <<<< LINK I'll add Axel's pictures to this thread when he has sent them to me. I hope the pictures will help someone in this GB, they will certainly help me with my upcoming S35. /Bosse & Axel. 6
Christer A
Some info about grey painted J35J Draken. First: not all J35J were repainted in grey! Only two (and it might have been only one) had the lighter nose, like Johan39 above. All other hade a dark nose, like Johan04 (note on naming : the only Wing that used the J drakens were F10. 10 in the Swedish phonetic alfabet is Johan, hence are all those Draken called JohanNN, never Red 50 or yellow 10) The paint used was a slightly darker mix of what the grey Viggen used. However, that paint faded very quickly... Also, all in service Drakens had a flat finish, but the only flying one today (Johan56) is painted gloss grey. Or was painted gloss grey, since I've heard that for the 2020 season it has reverted to the green/blue colors of old. Here are a few pictures and links of in service Draken Here are also a few pitcures http://www.hottail.nl/airforces/sweden/J35.html And off course airliners... https://www.airliners.net/search?aircraft=43047&display=detail 4
Rui Silva
@Christer A thanks to you I think I'm becoming the leading expert about Flygflottilj F 10 J 35 Drakens of Vila Nova da Telha, Maia, Porto, Portugal. 😎 Beautiful pictures!
Christer A
I'll add the Viggen Loadouts here I think. First of all, there is a difference between the AJ Viggen at the start of service, and after the AJS mod. First, lets look at the 1979 Loadout chart Legend: Sprängbomber = 120kg Bombs, carried on a special rack, like this Rb04 (note that when you hang it on the centre pylon, it cannot be fired...) Rb75 is the Maverick Rb05 is the Swedish guided weapon similar to Bullpup ARAKkapsel= rocketpods Like this Akankapsel = gundpods https://sv.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fil:Saab_AJ-37_Viggen_37094_57_(7609646264).jpg[/img] Then the Rb24 is the well known AIM-9B Sidewinder Rb24J is the AIM-9P Sidewinder Motmedel is the countermeasure pods, primarily Kapsel KA (chaff and flares) and KB (ECM). Kapsel KB was later replaced by U22. in the end of the 80s it was clear that the AJ replacement would not be ready for quite a few years, and that led to the AJS mod of the AJ/SH/SF family. Then the loadout chart looked like this: Three weapons were added: Rb74, which is the AIM-9L Sidewinder Rb15F, which is a new anti-ship missile that replaces Rb04 BK which is a stand off cluster weapon I think that covers all for the Attack Viggens... Edited February 4, 2020 by Christer A Made sure the Rb05 picture worked 4

Christer A
If this Facebook linking works, then here are a few pictures of the only flying J35J Draken, now repainted in the classic Draken colors.(although in a slighlty more glossy finish than service machines) https://m.facebook.com/groups/155742531576962?view=permalink&id=793440647807144 The pictures were taken today when this Aircraft overflew both old and new F10 a few times in honor of Bertil Bjäre who was buried today. Mr Bjäre was a key figure in the history of F10 Wing, both as a Wing Commander and an instrumental figure in the creation of the F10 Museum. Clear Skies mr Bjäre. 5

Rabbit Leader
Nice video @vppelt68. Looks like we’ve managed to assemble quite a few of these subjects within this GB, which is great to see. Even my SF-2 Safir makes a welcomed appearance! Cheers and thanks.. Dave
