Javelin FAW8, XJ122/E, No. 85 Sqn, RAF West Raynham, 1961

Recommended Posts

I've always liked the Javelin, possibly my favourite post-war fighter. One of the most interesting versions was the FAW8 with its short nose and offset radome. Only two squadrons flew this version, no.. 41 sqn at Wattisham and 85 sqn at West Raynham, before they were withdrawn in 1964.

For this model I used the Mistercraft 'FAW7' with a Freightdog FAW8 resin nose and decals from an old modelling magazine that were for sale on ebay. Here is the WIP:

That's nice. I do like the Javelin. I've bought a couple of Mistercraft kits in the past and think I'd rather not get any more. I don't particularly mind a bit of FFS but they seem to demand quite a lot of 📏🔨🔫🔩⚙️🗜️🧹🗑️ and I'm not skilled enough to make a spectacular job of them. So well done for making something out of it!
