perdu
Ced mate do you think rotorheads won't be following your progress? Really? Tosh and balderdash Anyway I also have that Dragonfly Ced, shall I watch as you overcome the oddities round the windows? The Aeroclub Skeeter, yours if you want it Cannot possibly see me getting round to it so... I bought it from John at SMW when Melchie bought his but it's been in a cupboard, separate to the stash by the way, ever since The Bilvedere is next up but I don't mind playing with that Whirlwind too Andy...
CedB
Thanks Bill Very generous of you to offer the Skeeter and of course I'd love to have it - and model the HAAR version. Let me know how I can get my hands on it!

The Whirlwind is also on the wish list but is listed as a Sikorsky H-19 Chicksaw? Is it like the Sioux and built under licence? Skeeter added, although I'm not sure I'll match The General's build! S&M Sycamore added too. Also, where can I find out about all these abbreviations (HAS, HAR etc)? See, told you I know nothing The Whirlwind was indeed originally licence-built, as was the Wessex and Sea King - Westland then developed different versions of the types which didn't correspond with any Sikorsky (or other licence-built) variants... ....as for designations, everything you need to know can be found here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_military_aircraft_designation_systems Edited January 26, 2020 by andyf117

perdu
Will the Skeeter be cuter? Already done two Wessex H--2s Ced This one HC2 was made from the Matchbox Wessex HU5 by fitting new windows, it was as if Everest had moved in round here But I might have refined the over-huge nose filter a bit too much This other HAR2 one was the Frog kit with bits added (but at least with the proper sized windows to start with) I might have a Frog one hiding in a darkened cupboard, I'll look Well waddayah know, seems I do...

hendie
You can also mix and match from Italeri's current Wessex and their H34 (fuselage section with small windows) to get a decent rendition of an HC2 (That's what I did)
CedB
I've just spent the afternoon completing my online training for the Scout volunteering. Fascinating Not only do I now know more than I wanted to about GDPR (Data Protection for non-EU readers) but I'm also up-to-date on anti-bullying, so watch out you lot! 3 hours ago, andyf117 said: The Whirlwind was indeed originally licence-built, as was the Wessex and Sea King - Westland then developed different versions of the types which didn't correspond with any Sikorsky (or other licence-built) variants... ....as for designations, everything you need to know can be found here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_military_aircraft_designation_systems Thanks Andy, very helpful. Ced, I absolutely REFUSE to think about your comment. I absolutely REFU.... no, too late, I'm gone ............. Get a grip, Hughes. Get a grip ............ Deeep breath. Okay, I believe you have, like young PC, an LF models dragonfly? I'm getting one, but I already have the Mach 2 version (not looking forward to opening the box on that again) and two of the Whirlybird Vacform/resin Dragonflies, because I intend to buld at least one of the four as the SAR Dragonfly operating off HMS Ocean during the Korean War (my Dad served aboard Ocean during her two deployments there). I'm also going to build a Whirlwind helicopter in Austrian Air force service (SWIMBO's mother was Austrian) and if I can get another I'd like to do it as Whirlwinds flew off Ocean during Suez. Otherwise, Helicopters are not featuring in my stash. Apart from the 1/48 AMP dragonfly and the Avro Rota that are lurking there.
