Wait, wait, wait: I wanna know all about this stuff! Please? :)

Excellent result all round, Ced :worthy:  As you know, I know nothing about helicopters, so I can't judge on accuracy, but she sure looks great to me!

Ciao

Thanks Giorgio :)

Plastic Swords? Nigel uses them (so now I do too) for nav lights. Have a search for 'Neon Sword Cocktail Picks' - cheap as chips.

Lovely job Ced, a real little treat. The blade ties are a lot simpler than our Hendie's Wessex too!

However I will not go so far as to call it c**e.

Sorry, but that word is not in my vocabulary!

Ian

Thanks Ian - c**e? Er, are you not saying 'cute' or do you have something else in mind?

That is intricate Ced, wonderful modelling.

Thanks Cookie - exhausting too! :) Your favourite Spitfire Vb kit is my next build; thanks for the recommendation.

Lovely pint-sized teetering head flying scaffolding.  I drove past the entrance to Middle Wallop today (the actual airfield entrance a few hundred yards down the road from the Museum), and sitting there is a Sioux in exactly your scheme.

Thanks Crisp :) That's her! One of the Historic Army… oh, you know that don't you. Teaser :poke:

Thanks Roger, too kind. I won't be entering any competitions soon though - too stressful! :)

Thanks hendie - means a lot coming from you matey :)

Of course this helicopter building is all your fault… oh, OK, partly your fault.

There will be more.

Just not soon.

Nice finish Ced.

I have only flown in choppers twice, once over Niagara Falls and once through the Grand Canyon.

Memorable flights both of them.

Thanks Phil :)

Grand Canyon for me too - as you say, memorable. I have a photo I took in the canyon framed on the wall. Impressive.

Again late but absolutely splendid old chap.

John

Thanks John, pleased you like it (and thanks, as usual, for the stories!) :)

Last night I tidied the bench and found the transfer sheet.

I'd forgotten the yellow band on the nose.

The end of this build was a series of tricky, fiddly bits and by the end of was well and truly sick of it.

Into the decal stash it went.

This morning I felt guilty (my old Mum's influence again) so out it came and:

Still wet.

The carriers will vanish as it dries.

Probably.

Thanks Rob :)

I think this is the tiniest stuff I've done to date (and probably in the future!)

Glad it's over.

Thanks John :)

I think it's to give the pilot some chance of keeping it level?

If you helicopter fans are still here, can you recommend some more kits for me?

As you know I know very little about helicopters but early versions are interesting me and only slightly deviating from my WWII theme.

So (sorry Crisp) no modern stuff please but please give me guidance on variants and versions.

I have the LF Models Dragonfly already.

I'd also like, let's see…

(thanks Andy).

Belvedere, obviously, but I know they're rare so I'll look out for them at shows. And probably need to do the same with others?

Early Whirlwind and a Wessex.

Sycamore as my Father in Law worked on them.

Skeeter?

That'll do for now - thanks :)

Hopefully in plastic.

I'm not that interested!

Whaddya mean, if - us rotorheads are always hovering around...

As I'm confident you'll see when Perdu does his, building a Belvedere is a little more complicated than just building an Airfix kit out of the box...

....for an early Wessex, the old Frog kit isn't the most detailed, but still a good starting point - but an RAF HC.2 requires work, whatever kit you choose...

....as for an early Whirlwind, there's the old Airfix, or Italeri's round-nosed versions - for a later pointier-nose, you need a conversion, or a Whirlykit resin one...

....or an old multi-media one like this (though preferably with its transparency):

spacer.png

Aeroclub did a Skeeter - see the General's thread here:

And Nigel did the S&M Sycamore here:

There was also a Glencoe one (and Whirlykits did it in resin)...

Wow! Good job I found this thread before you have fin...

:rofl2:

Thanks Adrian, especially for the PM offering me your Airfix Belvedere - what a kind and generous man you are, thanks very much!

It has occurred to me that it may seem as though I'm after offers - apologies if it sounded like a 'begging post'.

Not so, of course, but if you do need help with your stash reduction chaps… I'd be very grateful.

I will be watching Bill's upcoming build with interest now and taking notes.

Thanks Andy - very helpful :)

I see the Frog Wessex has been re-boxed and is still around - on the Scalemates wish list.

The Whirlwind is also on the wish list but is listed as a Sikorsky H-19 Chicksaw? Is it like the Sioux and built under licence?

Skeeter added, although I'm not sure I'll match The General's build!

S&M Sycamore added too.

Thanks to alt-92 too - I already have one of those, but thanks :)

Also, where can I find out about all these abbreviations (HAS, HAR etc)?

See, told you I know nothing :D
