AWFK10
Could it be a fitting to support a sunshade over the cockpit and nose compartment when the aircraft is standing at dispersal in a hot climate?

TEXANTOMCAT
I’ve had a quick squids at the Ian Allan Beaufort special - if you google George VI Bristol Beaufort in images (Toronto Press) you’ll see a photo of the King visiting Bristols by the nose of one- it looks like it held a horizontal instrument of some sort which is covered with a canvas cover. Seems a very common ‘bracket’ on them though! Sorry for some reason I can’t post a pic TT

Chris I don’t think so mate the G45 wouldn’t be fitted externally - I think it’s something to do with Torp release gear. My first thought was to do with height release as the alt wouldn’t be much cop below a few hundred feet

dogsbody
I've seen plenty of photos of Beaufort noses with that bracket on them but I have never seen anything fitted to it. Chris

GTX
I would hazard a guess that it is a Williamson G22 Gun Camera. See below for another image of the above setting. Also see the bottom of the second image and compare the shape of the G22 to the covered object.
