Silenoz
a little known model I suppose... the PRV-10 is a height finding radar for incoming aircraft. It was used in a Sa-75 battery (Sa-2), as an aid for the SNR-75 Fan Song attack radar. This last one had the disadvantage of a very narrow searchbeam. This radar aided with broadening that view to make searching the targets more easily. Range was approx. 296km. The actual PRV-10 radar More specificaties: Frequency: 2 Ghz (E-Band) Power source: 2 MW (peak) PRF: Resolution: 3 km, 500 m height ON/OFF time: unknown Detection fighter sized aircraft at 500 m height: unknown 10000m height: 300 km The box: the parts: https://www.scale-model-kits.com/images/products/zz/zz72002_2.jpg and where I'm now: wheels with location pin: basic frame almost ready: The radar dish: the housing: I added some tin to the PE-parts to make them look less flat : and a dryfit of the parts:
Bullbasket
I have to say that I admire your etched brass soldering skills. That's looking really good. John.
Robert Jan Scholte v. Mast
Soldering PE is simply a must. Beautiful to watch this work from you, as with the little TKS Tankette from another thread, it just looks the part and its very solid. It shall be a practical modeling goal for 2020. I used to solder a lot, I just need to pick up that gear again. Every time I see a thread like this, I promise myself to do it that way again and again, but no. Very interesting build, will follow along. Kind regards, Robert Jan Edited January 7, 2020 by Robert Jan Scholte v. Mast corrections
Silenoz
Building goes slowly lately... Antenna received it's cover plate: It is a PE mesh with fine diamonds. I've cut the part in 3 parts, not alone for handling, but also to save a bit on material. I hope the seem won't be that visible after painting... It has been filed to fit the frame after soldering... Also the hinges received some solder, not to make them rounder, but to reinforce them. The antenna-housing is also as good as ready. Cables, receiver, etc are added, only the entrance step needs to find it's way onto the assembly, but I thing this will be done prior to painting: The frame is now only missing it's cable for connection to the towing truck. Other cables and the steering mechanism are added: The connector for the missing cable has been made (with a file, no lathe...) size is ø1.7 x 2.3mm ahum: To the next which will be primer and basecoat hopefully...

Silenoz
Thank you both Tried again with my new AB (H&S infinity 0.2mm nozzle), but it feels like I can't do the same as with my old one (a very cheap AB from ebay, 0.3mm nozzle) and it is hard to paint some variation in the shades.. Antenna in basic colors, only 2 holes gor filled by paint, some slight retouching needs to be done The housing needs a second color: Some handles broke of this one, just to be determined to add some lighter colors to the top surfaces
JeroenS
Very nicely done, the dish looks great. I've never soldered anything in my life, but sure looks like a very useful skill.
