Deanflyer
Blimey, nearly forgot about this. In my first full year of retirement, I only managed to complete 10 models, but the eleventh one is a magazine build which has taken me a good few months to get nearly finished as I was also travelling away a lot. In chronological order, here they are: My first completion was the Airfix 1/24 Stuka, which incorporated the painted cockpit and propeller that I built about 40 years ago as an 11 year old: Next up was commission build for the owner of the newly restored two seat Spitfire MJ772. It was done from the AZ Models kit in 1/72 scale: Then I built the 1/32 Revell Hawk in the early RAF trainer scheme, with a lot of scratch building in the cockpit, scratch built dropped flaps and a home made windscreen. Rather pleasingly took Gold in the Coventry Show. Then I built my Christmas present from my Dad...the Space 1999 Eagle Transporter in 1/48 scale: Next up was the Tamiya 1/48 Me262, pretty much out of the box: Then it was the turn of the Academy 1/48 P-40: My mate Rich had visited Japan, and brought me back a kit as a present...the only thing he could be sure I wouldn't already have in the stash was a Gundam robot! His only stipulation was that it had to be done in a unique colour scheme - so I did it with Desert Digital Camouflage: Then I built the HobbyBoss 1/35 Storch: Then for a change, I built a 1:1 scale kit - a Smith & Wesson Combat Magnum revolver. The wood grain effect on the grips was painted with oils: And finally, I built the Dragon 1/144 Mercury Redstone rocket: My current build is not quite finished, but I have finished a separate aftermarket resin kit that will be displayed under it. It's for publication so I can only show you a teaser of it here: Next year's builds should include the Buccaneer I got to blast around in this summer, and the L-39C I got to fly in Australia last month. Keep watching... 😉 Cheers, Dean Edited December 31, 2019 by Deanflyer
