Mi-8 KV-4 12.5mm machine gun help

Hi All,

Anybody know if one of the after market producers make a 72nd KV-4 machine gun as used on the early Mi-8s?  I want to build my Hobby Boss Mi-8 as a Sandinista bird and need one to mount in the nose.

Cheers,

Or is it something different?

12.5 KV-4 is something unknown to me, especially taking into account that Soviet machine gun caliber is 12.7.

Doing some more research I came across the quote from Air Force Magazine: "The Mi-8TV (Hip-F) is even more heavily armed, with a 12.7-mm KV-4 nose machine gun, with 700 rds, and a triple stores rack on each side of the cabin, able to ..." but standard Mi-8TV front machine gun was A-12.7:

I'm not aware of any scale reproductions of this machine gun

If you have ArmA 2 Arrowed installed with Czech addon check if the mount of the Hip is identical to the one in the game as the mount is for a PKT and there it was a man in the middle branding it

Otherwise on Flashpoint 1985/ArmA CWA BiS used the version with the HMG but the mount was on the lower section of the nose and not in the middle, sadly references for it seems to be gone and the model used in game it's not good for any kind of reference, but since the studio used Czech army vehicles for reference maybe on Czech forums you'll be able to find something

It looks like the PKT muzzle and aiming aid, the 12,7 mount should be below not above, pretty sure some dang flight sim maybe Lomac or whatever is called now had an Hip module with armed variants on it

Thanks All,

Yes, I meant to say 12.7mm vice 12.5mm.  Also, that is the correct weapon in the Hip photo.  Just hoping SOME manufacturer makes the gun and/or mount in 72nd scale a leading (perhaps in Russia or Eastern Europe?).

Thanks,

You need to scratch the mount and possibly look out for 1/72 tanks from that era, if anything check henkofholland and onthewaymodels for a very exhaustive list of models, aftermarket parts and whatnot

Thank you All for the excellent photos and information!  Very close to getting this one done as a Hip F.
