I managed to complete more than I thought this year as work and normal life stuff kept me fairly busy for most of the year.

I've still got two more that might be finished before the end of 2019 so will add them here if I can.

Thanks for looking.

That's certainly a years work to be proud of. You've completed some lovely models, but if I had to choose a favourite one, then I'd be hard pushed to do so.

Suffice to say that anything wearing British roundels would certainly qualify, however your Meteors, Argosy and Twin Pin are exceptional.

Very well done indeed.

Thank you for sharing them with us.

Nice Meteor collection, and I like the Gerry Anderson and Wacky Races vehicles too.

I’ve learned something today - ejector seats make a mess of your paintwork. I guess you don’t often get to see airframes where the ejector seat has been used...

Adrian

I’ve had the privilege of sitting in WL419 at a photo shoot at North Weald in about 1994 or ‘95 and she was more-or-less pristine  IIRC, but could possibly have been buffed up for the occasion or fresh off overhaul.

It’s the exhaust plume from the rocket seats that mucks up the paintwork, the early (Mks. 1 to 4) seats were “gun only” so most, if not all, of the gases generated by the ejection cartridges went straight up the gun tubes and were either contained or exhausted through the top as the seat parted company (if Selwyn or another former armourer is reading this please correct me) so the paintwork didn’t suffer so much.

WL419 was repainted at some point in the early 90's and the serial number moved from the fin to the more usual position on the rear fuselage. I wanted to do it in the earlier finish as I liked the faded dayglo more than the red/orange it has now. Any chance you managed to get photos of the rear cockpit? I've not put much in mine as there don't seem to be any photos of it.

I've got three more very near to finishing but have been concentrating on realistically getting just two done. One is almost there and only needs a few bits tidying up, the paint on the second one is taking forever to dry despite being left in the warm but just needs the undercarriage and decals added. I want to finish them together as they are related.

Sorry Steve, if I have any photos of the rear cockpit they’re comprehensively buried in either the sideboard or loft, but from memory it was a pretty empty box of a space with little or no paint visible and a very basic dummy seat (think of the seats in a Hasegawa Neptune for shape and you’ll be very close) the head box of which I think was a brick red colour.

I’m looking forward to seeing the next three, whenever they materialise, somewhere I have a nearly finished model of WD790 in Raspberry Ripple colours but I can’t find any white-outlined roundels for it at present and a completed model of WS838 in overall yellow from her A&AEE chase and calibration days.

I didn't think there'd be much in the rear cockpit but thought it worth asking the question.

I won't be getting the others finished today as the paint is still very sticky, I might have to strip it off and start again if it doesn't dry properly.  I did both WD790 and WS838 back in 2016 and have got the leftovers from the AlleyCat decal sheet for WD790 as I used the AirDecal set, I printed the decals for WS838 myself. PM me your address if they're of use and I'll send them to you.

Happy New Year.

Cheers, I can't believe how quickly this year has gone - perhaps that's a good thing after how bad it's been. I'll be putting my 2020 Yearbook together soon with more Meteors.....
