Tamiya V1 1/48 - Entry #2

Recommended Posts

I think I'll make a second entry to the group build, a Tamiya V1 in 1/48. Unfortunately the engine is mounted too high up which is a bit of an annoyance, but I can deal with that.

Some very nice late war box art on here, I've wanted to get a copy of this kit for a while after very nearly doing so in a Hobbycraft while camping...

The instructions for the kit are printed on the reverse side of the box along with a simple scheme. This should be an easy build hopefully.

The contents consists of a single sprue and some decals, of course safety warnings are included, for if you're bored enough to read them.

Very simple, and I can probably nick that trolley for my Vulcan cockpit section...

Decals consist of a lot of stencil markings. No swastikas are included... Correctly. The V1 would not have carried them, being a disposable weapon.

I don't know if you'll be able to see, but there's a sink mark in the fuselage that will need some attention.

I won't be building this today, I have family coming and then work. I'll either build this tomorrow or the day after.

I read about that Adam, but according to the review it's the fuselage being the wrong shape that is the problem, tapered and should be cylindrical. Possibly not easy to solve?

 Or not for me!

Interesting. Not on my kit, and your panel lines fade around the seam/join. Tamiya using multiple moulds?

Quite right! But some images do show them, added by the Allies when they displayed them post-war.

Best wishes for your build!

Just kinda made this up as I went along. I very much doubt that the colour scheme of every V1 built is recorded so here's my one based on various pictures of different V1s I've seen

Varnish on, just got to wait for it to dry

But I won't be using the stand for this model.... It's going to be for my Vulcan B.1 cockpit section I built a while ago

The V1 will be mounted above my modelling desk
