Nooky Booky got her decals today:

I nearly had a disaster with the Tamiya decals, which behaved most difficulty.  While applying the serial on the port side I noticed that the squadron code and star and bar, which are one long decal had moved and buckled up. As I was straightening this up, I noticed that the check nose band for the starboard side, which had gone on beautifully, conformed to the nose and lined up with the port side decal had completely disappeared!  After looking around in a panic, I found it stuck to the little finger of my left hand.  Fortunately I was able to get it back into place without too much damage.  Thereafter I proceeded very carefully with the remaining decals.

Getting near the finishing line with these two.

Doing the decals is one of my favourite bits of modelling... as long as they go OK. I think the best decals I've used of late have been Airfix, and the worst Techmod on a Corsair IV.

Nooky Booky looks really great with them, the name art 'Nooky Booky IV' is superbly registered.

Decals is one of the most satisfying tasks for me in modelling (the other is detailing), but I proceed with one side of the model after the other and secure them with clear varnish (thinned down and by brush) before the next step. So I have them all 'in sight'.

I admire how Andy has 'rescued' the situation!

I new this was tempting fate.  While assembling the prop somehow glue got onto my thumb which spread the yellow paint on to the forward red portion of the spinner.  After all the trouble I had getting the spinner to the point I was happy with this was the last thing I needed.  Strong language was used.  Fortunately after I had calmed down I was able to touch up the red, which goes over the yellow better than the other way around.  The final result is s not perfect but I’m reasonably happy.

I’ll add these two to the gallery over the weekend after a I’ve taken some proper photos with my camera.

Thanks to everyone who posted likes and comments, it has been a great encouragement.  I’ll continue to follow everyone else’s builds and hope to see you over on the In the Navy group build that kicks off next week.

A very pleasing pair you have built there. I admire how you got two models ready in just two months. I needed all my time for only one! More pictures, please.

Excellent work on 'Big Beautiful Doll' and 'Nooky Booky IV', Andy. I observed that you got the colours right in NB IV's wheel well. Thanks!

Nice collection, too. You seem to like Blue Noses 😀

What FG next then? Michael
