I didn't expect to finish this one, this side of New Year. It's the hopefully soon to be re-issued 1/48th Javelin. I had bought it when it first came out but put it to one side as it was just too big. Then last year I built a couple of F-102s, an F-101 and an F-106 so what was I scared of? Well the length is fine but it still has an enormous  wing span.

I normally use the pound coin to show how small  my 1/144th stuff is but it seemed appropriate.

It went together like a dream and all I added were some belts and a pair of Master pitots. Well worth the money IMHO. I also used a set of markings for a 5 Squadron machine from Xtradecals.

Still not sure I'll build another due to the size and anyway there are sooooo many Hunters I want to build.

Thanks for looking.

Very nice.

Possibly the best Airfix kit so far.

Dick

You may well be right, I do like the 1/48th Defiant though.

absolutely fantastic! and quite substantial too :D

Javelins have a special place for me as they pretty much were the first aircraft I saw in the flesh. XA102 FAW2

I sat i one  when I was about ten years old and it seemed massive.

What a cracker, great work and a lovely model. I have one in the stash and to think I had, until recently had it up as a trade. What was I thinking!

Congratulations on a super build.

All the best

Chris

 Chris,

I'd thought about selling mine earlier this year but something stopped me doing it. Glad I didn't now.

Beautiful build and finish, let's hope Airfix  go for a 1/72 scale issue in the future.

It would be nice for a good, accurate Javelin, though personally I would have prefered an earlier version with the pen nib, as there are more units that flew it. I did a whole series of Javelin in 1/72 using  parts cloned from the old Heller kit  back near the end of the last century (gosh just saying that makes me feel old).
