Luft'46 latecomer - P.1099

Recommended Posts

I'd like to do a Luft'46 build for this.... I have a Revell Messerschmitt P.1099, but I'd like to get hold of a Ho229 or perhaps another Do335 in a fictional scheme (I'm doing a 335 for the Christmas Blitzenbuild), I think they'd look nice in a desert scheme.

Only got about a month to do it, but I'm fairly confident I can.

Other option is a Bombcorde but I'm wanting to do that for a whatif GB on a Facebook Group.

Hello Adam.. Welcome aboard I'm looking forward to seeing what you can do in four or five weeks.

Hopefully something resembling something that didn't exist

All the best chris

I settled on the Revell P.1099, I've just started the cockpit

So here's an hour or so of work.

It's a what if build, Luft'46 is fiction, I may as well have some fun. I added bunch of old guitar wire, supposed to be various control cables and other things. Don't ask me what they do because I don't know :D

It's refreshing building something that I can do whatever I feel like with, it never existed in reality.

Two piece wings went together just fine. They'll just need a pass with sandpaper. I'd like to add some underwing fuel tanks from an Me262 if I can make them fit. The engine still need quite a bit of attention to get right.

I now have the cockpit painted up and the fuselage halves together.

Nose weight will be added before the insert under the Cockpit with the wheel well is added.

I'm going to do this as a combination of the one and two seater variants, I have the two seater, however I kind of like the look of the one seater nose and not having tail guns. So I decided this must obviously be a prototype for the two seater or an early production aircraft. It's Luft'46, I don't have to adhere to reality, which is incredibly refreshing.

More progress today. Probably won't get more done since I have to be at work in 40 minutes....

Primed and preshaded

Colour is added for tonal variation

I decided on RLM 81/82 over 76 as the scheme I'll paint. Mottling included of course.

76 on first, followed by 81.

And now the 82...

Mottling completed and masking removed and I have a Messerschmitt

  • 1 month later...

After completely burning out on this build I picked it up again to get it finished by the end of this GB. I've been picking at the model, doing the odd thing to it, demasked the cockpit, painted some panels as added a bit of yellow, today I added decals and I'm getting onto the gear

Since almost finishing my Victor, I've really just not had any motivation to do models... My primer is messing up as well on all recently cast Airfix kits, having horrible reaction with the plastic.... Need to find a new primer

I started a lightning but as soon as the primer messed up on that one as well I just..... Nope

Hopefully getting back into the swing of it with a Valiant though

Sorry to hear that. Ive had a similar thing happen on the few times Ive primed using Tamiya primer. The paint literally boiled on the plastic, i wound up with dozens of hard bubbles on the builds that needed to be carved off, sanded down, and re-primed. Until two years ago I never primed not even on resin or white metal. I may stop and go back to non priming as i find it to much extra work.
