Thank you @giemme and @keefr22, back to it today.

Some of the pylons got a wash .

While the ECM pod had it`s masking removed.

I still have some silver bands to apply there.

The engine is slowly getting there, a bit more filling here and there.

Coffee next and then see what else I can get up to.

  • 2 weeks later...

Thank you @keefr22, @Andwil, @giemme and @The Spadgent, we had a quiet anniversary but that`s life.

Right, I decided to check some bits over and found more remedial stuff.

One drop tank needs a touch up before another coat of varnish.

IMG_2461

Talking of varnish, the other drop tank had a lump of it.

IMG_2462

Still not dried yet... sand a re do.

The canopy has a lovely seam running down it`s length to be removed and polished.

IMG_2463

The rear part shows how far to go.

And ECM pod was unmasked.

IMG_2464

A touch here and there also some silver bands to paint before any other work to be done to it.

So, I have had enough of it for now and giving it a break for a while.

Stay safe.

Thanks @Dr. Quack, @bbudde, @giemme, @The Spadgent, and @keefr22 .

Well folks, I have been away from this build for a long time. A lack of mojo and life getting in the way has not helped matters, but after losing my mojo with the Skyraider I decided to get back to this build, but simpler, not too many parts out at once, less stressful then LOL.

Anyhow, to ease myself back in a little work with the hairy stick.

The AIM 120 C`s got their fins a lick of paint XF 56 with a touch of Mr Hobby H 8.

IMG_20200914_142330

I also painted the bands on the centre line pod Mr Hobby H 8.

IMG_20200914_142359

And I tried out my new ETS on a very rough lump of Gloss Varnish that appeared on one of the drop tanks.

IMG_20200914_142415

That just leaves the rocket motor cones to paint on the Harms and Sparrows before Varnish time for decals.

The drop tanks need a splash of Grey before varnishing as well.

Anyhow coffee break now.

Great to see this back on the bench. I know what you mean about life getting in the way. It’s been an age since I hit the plastic. 🤨

Johnny

Thank you sir, it has been a difficult few weeks but things are gradually getting there.

Well, tonight I managed to get the front air intake semi sorted.

I got the right fit to the lower fuselage but forgot to take a pic.

Then attached the "Lip", after a reasonable bit of fettling.

I had to cut a bit out of the lip to make it fit so so.

I am leaving that to set overnight before attempting any sanding.

You all have a peaceful evening.

Thanks @giemme, @Dr. Quack, @bbudde, @TheBaron and @corsaircorp.

Yes @giemme, I have just given part of it a smear of gloop, may sand it later.

While things set, I decided to get on with those little jobs, like masking the demarcation on the upper surfaces, easy on this one.

I cut a couple of templates.

IMG_20200919_150043

Laid some tape up and quickly drew around the templates  and fitted to the front half of the fuselage.

What next ?

I don`t know yet, a lot of the sub assemblies have been done and await fitting, so...

Coffee.

Thanks @TheBaron, @giemme, and @corsaircorp.

Right, a bit more done.

The bottom lip of the intake hewn to shape.

And the top with added gloop.

Sorry for the soft pics, my phone does not like close ups.

Anyhow, I noticed that I have posted over 500 pics on this build, another milestone I suppose.

Losing e-mail notifications from BM due to Outlook 'developers' ineptitude has made picking up activity on interesting threads like yours a bit difficult Simon, so apols for the tardy reply. As the others have said, great to see this one back underway, and some good progress being made!

Hope you and your good lady wife are keeping well
