If I had the room and the money I would of just gone along with a FOD cover either end.

If I had the room, I would build another one of this great kit. 😉

You are making great progress. Keep up the good work.

cheers,

Markus

Thanks, IF I had the room, I would have a lot more "Bigger" kits in the stash, and I have too.

Hope to get some more done today.

Simon.

To make a break from just cleaning and prepping I decided to build the 20 mm cannon.

4 bits for the breech etc and 4 for the barrels.

IMG_1941

I had already glued the breech assembly together, it has a poly cap inside it.

Barrels together.

IMG_1942

IMG_1944

They go together so sweetly, the muzzle cap, has three cut outs to accept the barrels and the other end fits inside the breech mech so hidden joint, clever.

Right, that is about it for tonight.

Don't worry too much about the bad yellow. Either spray it again or leave it and call it dirt. It's an engine bay after all :)

Agreed - and will you actually ever see it again when all's closed up Simon?!

Merry Christmas to you & yours

Some more good progress Simon, you'll soon be finished at this rate! :)

I started a Tamiya kit today (can't say what as it's for our club competition in February!) and I'd forgotten how nice they are to build. Started at lunchtime, built and painted the fantastic cockpit and engine and had the fuselage together by 5 o'clock! I might even get it finished in time!!

Ciao

Thanks lads, I think I am getting the hang of this spraying.

Thanks @Beggsy and @phildagreek, she is a beaut to work on.

OK, a quick update this New Years Eve.

Some engine parts in X 11 + XF 2 (a couple of drops)

IMG_2007

The "Gearbox / Gen" in XF 56 with a drop of the above mix added to it.

IMG_2008

The front fan, with an added band of the following colour on the gun barrels breech.

IMG_2009

Said gun barrels with a XF 69/ X 11+ XF 2 and a dash of XF 56.

IMG_2010

Coffee break then onwards I think.

Thanks Keith, the same to you and yours sir.

Thanks @giemme.

Last update for this year.

XF 69 sprayed inside the engine.

IMG_2011

Then some XF 2 sprayed around as well.

IMG_2013

IMG_2014

After burner ring (which I forgot to pic earlier)

IMG_2015

The inlet tunnel got a coat of XF 2 while I had it loaded.

IMG_2016

And finally the gun barrels and breech got a coat of X 23 Clear Blue.

IMG_2012

That is it for today.

All that is left is to wish all a very happy and peaceful New Year.

Thank you G, she has some fun parts coming up to mask though.

Thanks @keefr22, we hope that you had a good one.

Right, no modelling done today as requested by the good lady.

So instead, I gave the bench and spray booth a clean .

IMG_2017

New filter and newspaper.

And the bench got a tidy up and clean too.

IMG_2018

All ready for action on the 2nd.

Hope that you are all relaxing after last night.

Hello Simon. Happy new year. Mine was very relaxing. I fell asleep over it. Woke up at half past one again, took a glimpse at my window and there was nothing but fog. The worst fog I Ive ever seen here (max. 5 m that  you could look). Even the big tree in front of my window was nearly complete in disguise. So I decided turn my back around again and fell asleep promtly. Very satisfiying as I was sure that I didn't miss any spectacle here last night. Nice progress on your model so far  Very smooth spray job.

Cheers Benedikt

The fog you had is what we call a pea-souper, you can`t see your hand in front of your face.

Strangely enough we have had fog over here too today.

The good lady and I took it easy last night and watched the fire works from our front room window, but nothing special, even the ships horns didn`t sound , like they normally do.

She is coming along slowly at the moment Benedikt but there are a lot of sub-sections to make, fun.

Simon.

PS a happy New Year to you as well.

Yes, here called Nebelsuppe or Waschküche and it was very dangerous on particular areas here in NRW.  Wiki said something like black or killer fog. Indeed it was sad on several motorways here last night as  there were heavy incidents and accidents with the fog and freezing fog particles on the ground from what I heard today.

Glad your wife your and you stepped in 2020 very smooth.

By the way this is the tree that was almost invisible last night:

I really miss that - Swansea docks used to be packed with ships every new year when I was a kid and it was brilliant when they all sounded their horns at midnight, now there's hardly ever one in. Funnily enough I was thinking last night how much nicer that was than the flipping rubbish fireworks we get now - I mean what's the point of starting setting off fireworks at 8 pm on December 31st - grrrrrrr (grumpy old git mode off!!)
