This has been a somewhat protracted build for me, having started back in March 2018. I got the trailer finished around a year ago, but the truck's taken much longer, mainly down to other projects taking up time. It is a model that's worth taking some time with though, especially the truck which needs to be built and painted/weathered in sub-assemblies to get the best out of it. Fortunately, Meng have engineered it to make that approach fairly straight forward, and they've also packed in just about every detail you'd find on the real thing.

This one's been finished as an ex-service vehicle now in private hands, maybe with a logging company where a lot of these trucks ended up when they were decommissioned, and now in a rather dilapidated and semi-abandoned contition. OOB apart from a few small details and the shattered windscreen.

There are a few more photos of the trailer here:

I don't think there are any superlatives that could be used to describe your finished model, the attention to the myriad of minute details which help bring it to life and way it has been photographed

Andy: you are a master model maker and photographer sir !

Come on Andy. Own up. You've photo shopped the real thing in here!!:wicked:

Once again, my gob is well and truly smacked. I could spend all day pointing out what I like about this build, but instead I'll just mention something trivial....I like the Suzie's. They look real, as does the whole build.

Hi Andy,

As the mates said before, there are no words to describe what we see, I can only dream of doing something similar in another life ...
And the photos are of a professional quality, also a point in favor of the work done.
Cheers Andy. :goodjob:

Cheers John. Meng supply the suzies as lengths of red and blue wire. They just need wrapping around something to coil them. The only tricky part is the support post that holds them. It's incredibly thin and delicate, and I managed to snap mine while fitting it. I was able to repair it, but in hindsight it would preobably have been better to replace it with some brass rod.

I particularly like the grime on the hitch (Is that the right word?)

But if I had to choose between so many magnificent details, I think I would choose the grease at the hitch for the trailer.

Thanks Miles, thanks Andrés

I was quite pleased with the way the hitch came out. It was a pretty simple process.Just repeated layers of black pigment and AK Fresh Oil enamel wash.

Oustanding weathering.. all that dust, oil stains and grease.. just like on the real thing.. and cracked windshield is a very nice detail, adds a bit more realism to the kit!

Great job, gotta be proud to have this gem in the display case! ;)

Cheers,

S.

Just tremendous,  the attention to detail is first rate, paintwork and weathering superb. To much to like to single out one item, the rust staining the grease the worn tyres....

The size of it alone must give it presence.

Could be the real thing photoshopped onto a white background......

Absolute masterpiece

Cheers
